Basic Beliefs of Galmachis

In the eyes of the Lord of the Dead, Galmachis, there is but one truth to the world: All things must die. Galmachis seeks to see that all beings meet this end at or before their destined time, but never afterward. Those who cheat the god of death and break from the Wheel of Fate are among his most detested enemies.

In this world full of powers to restore life, a being whose spirit remains strong and continues to thrive and fight for survival still serve the Lord of Death, willingly or not.  Flesh wounds and injuries are not the end. A grievous and mortal wound, however, is the doorway to his realm and shall not be shut by anyone but his servants or himself. The clergy of death understand the trade of life for life in this action and pay the price owed.

The strength of a soul is valued and serves as the weight upon which the dead turn to him. A weaker being may not be traded for stronger, but equal or greater trade as offerings to the lord have been deemed acceptable.

While the lord of the dead does not outwardly spurn the necromantic creations, they are regarded with disdain. A body or soul temporarily stripped from his realm, by any other than his own servants, is viewed as an insult to his name.

Speakers of the Dead

The priest of Galmachis is his voice in the mortal world, commanding the wheel to turn as it must for all life. These Speakers of the Dead are granted, by prayer, the rights to determine who may live and who must see the end of the mortal coil. Speakers take great care in their work for the lord. The dead are respected and revered among the servants of Galmachis. They are the ones who have completed the cycle and entered his arms in final rest. They are his to keep and treated as they treat him.

Hands of Death

Clerics of Galmachis are the divine fist; the Hand of Death. It is their duty to enact the force behind the voice and ensure the wheel turns. Much like the Speakers, they revere the dead as they do their lord. Though they bring death to those who must die, they treat the bodies with dignity and respect upon their entry into the Void.

(Below is the text of a divine scroll, written by Galmachis himself, given to one of his High Priests)

Worship of Galmachis, the Great God who dwells in the Thinite Nome; Keeper of the Dead; Pharaoh of the Howling Void; Ammenuset, the Reaper; King of Eternity, Lord of Everlasting.

From the depths of the empty void, which all dead descend, I have climbed into the realm of the living, to watch and see. The living have taken the teachings of Howling Void and twisted them beyond the words that had originated them.

Written are commandments of Death, who so saw fit to deliver them to the living who revere him. From this, the servants of He who rules the dead shall renew their course and serve him eternally.

O Servants, come to the Silent Land, clear my ways for me, and go all over my house, that you may see my form and extol my shape. May you inspire fear of me, may you create awe of me, that the gods of the Netherworld may fear me, that the gates may beware of me. Do not let him who has done me harm approach me, so that he sees me in the House of Darkness, and uncovers my weariness which is hidden from him.

It is upon my word that all beings must turn the Wheel of Fate and find their end that they may join together in the plains of the Silent Land. None shall take from me that which does not belong to them in life or in breath. Let only the servants of Death be my will in the land of the living who choose when they who stand at my door step through.

Revere the dead as I, the ruler of them, in their form. Those who have passed have entered the Howling Void as servants of death. Their bodies rise only in service of me, and no other before me, for they are of my realm and mine to claim, that my servants may usher as I will.

Send to me the souls of your enemies, exchanged for your own, and weighed on the scales in equal trade. Show them my realm so you may remain in yours in service to me.
