Our nation is at war. All around the United States, communities find themselves praying and hoping for the swift success and safe return of our troops. We at Knight Realms are no different.
As the United States and its allies pursue victory in the war on terrorism, the players and staff of Knight Realms would like to thank the selfless men and women who fight the battles of this war. Our gratitude extends to our cousins in the United Kingdom and Australia, and to the service members of all our allies.
While not everyone agrees that we should be at war, we all agree that the men and women serving across the oceans deserve our unconditional support. The cause for which they now suffer and risk their lives is our cause. It is the cause of freedom.
To join the armed forces requires that you hold freedom so dear that you are willing to live without the greater part of it to protect the freedom that your fellow Americans enjoy. Whether in peacetime or in war, whether serving abroad or next door, every member of the armed forces has a made a conscious decision to sacrifice his or her personal freedom for the freedom of our country.
Supporting our troops is not the same as supporting the conflicts they fight. They serve, in fact, precisely so that we may disagree about whether they should be fighting. They serve so that we may disagree about who should lead us, in the White House or in Congress. They even serve so that we can disagree about who should have been kicked off “American Idol” this week. In other words, the men and women of our armed forces protect all the glorious and all the ridiculous faces of freedom unconstrained. Without them, we would all lead duller lives - unable to express ourselves, unable to go where we want, unable to hope that tomorrow will be better than today.
