Lore of the World: Part I was created by Sean Moulson (Moulson13)
(This message has been approved by James C. Kimball) So it is with great excitement that I get to post this:
Are you tired of not knowing the history/lore of your race? Would you like to contribute to the lore of a race? Want to support us in creating that history/lore?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then this post is for you!
If you'd like to help us in this endeavor, we ask that you start writing now. Over the next few days/weeks, we (James and myself) will be posting requests for specific races, as well as due dates. All players are welcome to submit a write up of lore, as long as you keep the following things in mind while writing:
- We may not use the work at all
- We might/will edit it heavily
- All work submitted is considered to be copyrighted by Knight Realms. If your writing is used, even in the slightest, you will receive full author/contributor credit.
You will be compensated if you submit something, even if it does not get used.
Please follow the formatting that will be posted next. Also, please DO NOT submit on this forum.
Please email all submissions to You are logged in as history@knightrealms.com. Do, however, feel free to post questions on this board or message me.
Again, these are some big steps for us, so please write early submit often!

Say that there is two parts to this we want to write. For example when/how the elves separated and then the history after the split of lets say quinarians?
Do you want us to submit two? Or just after(or before) the split?
Or just double this format and put it in the same document.

One document. Label it with the race that you are writing more about. The only difference would be if you wrote for two different races. Let's say dwarfs and elves you would need two documents for that.

Sean,
Does it have to be "big moments," that would actually be recorded in something about the Lore of the World, or can it be small moments that still might contribute to the richness of the IG world?

it can be any moment. However it would be best if you could write a complete history. Think about the section in a d&d book. That is kinda what we are looking for.

So what if we want to write less about the geography and more about the history and beliefs of the races in regards to things mentioned in the rulebook or explanations for why we believe things of our race?

What exactly are you asking for under the "description" heading, as most of that seems to be covered by the items under "society" (unless you want something of a physical description of the race)?

description would be what someone typical of the race would look like. Also have they evolved since the first age? Let us know.

Sean,
Sébastien has a french accent and background. Would I be able to use this as a way of giving this specific "nationality" a lore rather than a race?

You could go with one of the Counties in Koromyre - Loez, for example.

Yes and no at the same time. You could write about a village in Kormyre that has Kormyrians that work with your background. Again we may not use it but submit it and if James and Marybeth approve it it's cannon. We don't just want about the capital of the lands but information on the areas and villages around it as well.

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to follow up with my own post. I am terribly excited about this project, and if enough of you show interest and keep up the momentum, we may be able to complete a highly daunting but awesome project; the creation of a comprehensive guide to the Knight Realms Game World! There should be enough of a description in the KR rulebook to get a feeling for the races and thier homelands, however the details is were the story will shine! We are excited to open this project up to anyone in the Knight Realms community who has the desire to contribute! Sean will be coordinating the project for us.
We are looking to make a lore book, but it needs to be balanced. We cannot have 15 pages on sylvan elves and 3 on dwarves, and so the loose goal is about 6 - 10 pages on each culture (race+homeland). If we go a little over or under thats not bad as long as they are generally still balanced. If you submit five pages about the "Bestiary of Selendrias" we will probably be forced to only use half a page worth. That dosnt mean you should not write that much... on the contrary, the more you write, the more likely we are to find the super awesome gems hidden in your creative mind.
While we would prefer complete and isolated proposals, content is content, and if your mind demands you write up Beasts of the Underdark, Heroes of Londwyn, Architecture of the Dwarves, and the Noble Structure of the High Elves, then well take it. We are looking for a uniform format and so the one posted in Seans second post is generally the one we are likely to use, however if anyone has thoughts or additional ideas, we are always open to input.
There are many exciting possible mediums this might get published in. At the top of the list is an interactive e-book, or a full color hard copy book. Any of which will list your name as a writing contributor if we use any of your submissions.
Sean will coordinate this more with you guys, but I wanted to get on here and say that I am excited and honored to have your creative mind contribute to our game world!

Fantastic! this will give me something to do while I recover! I would love to contribute on any and all races! thank you for giving me something to do~
Tell me... I did absolutely love the "how this race views other races" comments they had in white wolf player books. can I do something like that as well?
eventhough most pcs have their own view on one pc or another, one could say that elves and dwarfs don't get along, while another may call one their best friend. I always found it difficult to pin-point exzactly how my race feels about other races... (say a barbarian or a dwarf...)
I would like to think/know if having any ally like that is uncommon or not! would make extremely good roleplay!
I may also use elements from pathfinder aswell... you can tell I'm extremely excited about this!!!

I'm currently compiling some ideas about culture/geography/history on Halflings. Is it okay that I make a small connection with Dwarves for the hobbits' histories?
I am going by the rulebook for inspiration since Dwarves and Halflings stemmed from the same root many mny years ago.

Two questions:
1) Would you prefer it that these were written as in-game documents?
2) Would it be okay to write about an organization rather than a race? I've lately got it into my mind that it'd be kind of cool to have, somewhere in the world, a guild of gravediggers who are all consummate witch hunters, the better to keep bodies in the ground and protect their cemeteries from necromancers.

1) The occasional thing written in-game is cool, although not with any spelling mistakes or over quirkiness, even if on purpose.
2) Sure, we could fit organizations in somewhere im sure.
