Potential New Player

Hello all! My name is JymmeAnne. Some of you might have seen me around at the Double Exposure conventions. I've recently been getting into LARPing in a relaxed environment and have been wanting to get more involved in one regularly. After some poking around on the internet and into ones that I've seen at the convention, I'm thinking that this one would be a fun one. Not sure exactly when I'll be able to make it out to an event (probably not this month, so I'm currently aiming for April or May!) but I'm currently tossing around a few character ideas in my head.

Thank you both! I'm gonna be meeting up with some friends who play tomorrow and was planning on discussing some of my characters I have and finding one that I can fit into Travance properly. I've been forum role-playing for almost 20 years now and playing D&D for about 10, so I have a lot of characters that have been molded and refit to different settings and always wind up fun to play! It's also finding something that will be relatively easy for someone who's relatively new to LARP.

I think right now my biggest confusion is how combat works. I've been reading through the rules and it feels like it's something that I'll get when I can actually see it in action. I've always been the type of person that learns better through seeing things work rather than reading about it!

I really can't wait to work it out and attend an event. It looks like so much fun!!!

Combat definitely takes some getting used to and you're hardly the only one who works better when they're doing something in person rather than reading or writing about it.

Along that line, if the character that you end up writing up, works out differently when you're living their life, you can rewrite anything about them before your character's third event.

That and you're welcome to come NPC for as little or as long as you'd like, if you'd like to get a taste of combat and RP before getting started. It's free and if you NPC long enough, we reward you with build and Service Points that you can put toward your character.

So it looks like I've decided on a character, just gotta figure out build.
