I am thinking of buying these for a small light source and just overall nice looking PHS rep IG. good or bad idea? ??? and also would anyone be able 2 find them battery powered, or know how I could gut it and make it battery powered?

I had one of these things, and used to bring it to games. I would argue against using it. Basically they are rocks with the bottom hollowed out and a light shoved up the anus. While you might be able to find a way to make such a thing battery powered, they are heavy, relatively unstable, and the light on the inside probably wouldn't survive more than a few events before getting broken.

I concur with Jeremy. My brother uses one as a night lite, they are that dim. They are also AC powered, so theres no real way that I can think of, besides replacing the entire unit, with a battery and bulb. Stick to the battery operated candles, they seem to hold up well. I have six that I bring with me, that I bought for $15 each that are bright enough to light a room.

I have some salt lamps I use at KR, but they're a pain because they require a plug. I can only use them because I set up the forge where there is power - without that, they are not worth it.
