I was likely going to get it myself, since I liked the first one a lot.
Seems like they're making a lot of good and interesting changes.
I guess I'll see you on there.

First 3 way world PvP since Dark Age.
Mildly Excited about this, but I never played Guild Wars so I'm not entirely sure what to expect.
Anyone have a beta key they want to trade for build?

My friend went to PAX east and got them for me. Also if you pre-purchase you get access to every beta weekend event.
The game has NO monthly fee. I honestly recommend anyone who has any intent on playing the game to pre-purchase.

Guild Wars has always been my go-to game for when I don't feel like paying a monthly fee for another MMO. I'm looking forward to this as well.

With all of the MMO/MMORPG's i have played this one sounds interesting but i will stay with rift as they have in the past year introduced as much content (free) and keeps the game interesting and changing. though the PVP is lacking slightly it is still fun. I may see you guys in GW2 if it keeps my interest when it comes out.

I really want to like GW2. I really do. I have a great number of friends who are playing and badgering me to come dominate in pvp. Sadly, there are 2 major issues I have with GW2 that are preventing me from playing it.
1) NCSoft. They have yet to make a game I enjoy. While their concepts always seem good on paper, the MMO business model they use always finds a way to remove the fun factor.
2) GW2 is a pay2win game, where the top pvp players will be the ones who buy the power-ups from the microtransaction system. Instead of paying $15/month to access the game, they will simply spend $15/month on damage enhancers and super potions.
If they change up the above, it will be worth a shot for me as 3-way pvp is by far the best I have experienced. It has potential, but I think I will give it 6 months for them to get things in order.
PS: Andy, how much build are we talkin here? I can make a few calls

Drew,
Have you actually read up on this game at all? I only ask that so bluntly as your first issue is addressed in the fact that they have stated their goal for GW2 is to not only not be like any MMO they've ever developed, let alone any MMO ever developed. Now anyone who reads that statement can tell it is likely a bit of an exaggeration but I think it is worth noting that out of everything i've seen in relation to guild wars 1 and 2, the only things that are similar are the names of the game, and the names of the classes in it.
As to your second point what you are afraid of isn't possible for a few reasons. Their primary goal of micro transactions are to provide visual enhancements or time saving enhancements. PvP battlegrounds much like that of wow are item and skill normalized so that nothing but the players skill matters. In open world however things are up for grabs. Also it should be noted that anyone who buys "gems" as they are called with real money can sell them in game for gold. Which means that there will be a possible gold for real money market. Furthermore this means that any player can buy anything from the real money market with enough time invested in the game.

Very early Saturday Morning (Roughly 3am) GW2 will be coming up for early access and be released to the world. Those of you on the fence about the game I HIGHLY consider you at least take a look at some of the video's and other information available online.
The quick summary on my feelings about the game.
PvE has a personal story similar to but likely not as detailed as Star Wars Galaxy
PvE has end game dungeons (5 mans) but no raids as of right now.
PvP has two modes, WvWvW (usually shortened as WvW) and Structured PvP (sPvP
WvW is 4 massive PvP maps where 3 separate servers battle over something massive keeps as well as relics that buff your realms health. Every few weeks (I think its changing every day for the first week or so) your opponents will change and evolve into being the best match up based off your servers success in WvW. WvW auto levels you to 80 for the purpose of the battles but a fake level 80 is far less powerful than a proper level 80. This is the main selling point for me about the game, WvW is just fantastic.
sPvP allows you to be a level 80 character from the start and everyone is on an equal playing field. From here you can hot join pvp battles of 8v8 or 5v5 or wait for various tournaments to participate in.
Overall I think the only thing the game is lacking is a real PvE end game.
Also for reference i'll will likely be rolling on Stormbluff Isle, while of course anyone is welcome to roll wherever they want it would be nice to get quite a bit of people on the same server for once. If that changes i'll post here to update anyone that cares (likely nobody).

It's 15 freakin' GIGS?
I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, in hindsight, but damn.
My first games were measured in single-digit Mb.
I take it back. Apparently the first SMB cart was less than 50k
To be fair, with a 2 hour download time, that makes it the fastest 15 gigs of my life.
Now it only needs to be 3am.

I don't think they'll let me transfer a character to a max capacity server. I think the idea is to get people to spread out to the lower capacity servers.
