Problem is, there's just too many good ones.  Still.  I have always felt that 'Envy' is the most interesting, not to mention ambiguous of them.

Watch "The Devil's Advocate" with Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino.  It's an interesting movie and gives a unique idea on which is truly the most deadliest or worst sin ever.

Not sure how much it'd help with the report, but you can watch Se7en as well. Very disturbing, but very good movie.

All the 7 deadly sins have been the cause of huge historical conflicts and downfalls.

You might say Rome or the Nazi's were killed by their Pride/Vanity.

Lust and Envy are also classic motives for serial killers. History and death are always good subjects to report on.

You might want to point out that as well as the theological consequences there are also very mortal and immediate consequences for these sins. Wrath has a way of biting the wrathful person in the butt right here on earth. A person filled with rage seldom has close friends or anyone to keep them from falling deeper into sin or off the edge of sanity.

Hope that helps!

Is it a 'just pick a sin and write a paper...' or do you have to tie it in with a relevant current event?
If thats the case you can try Gluttony and Obesity in America... Of course that may be an easy and obvious pick.  :P

Good Luck! ;D

I've actually never seen 'The Devil's Advocate' but i'll definitly watch it now,
What I have to do is write the paper with using whatever sin i pick and talk about how it affects the person and their lifestyle, kinda like,if I choose to do greed, I'd have to talk about why that particular sin drove that person into doing whatever problem I gave them.
Hope that makes sense, that's the best way my professor was able to explain it to us without getting us confused :)
But so far everybody's been really helpful :)

You could do sloth. Plenty of examples on how government sloth causes problems. (IE. Testing for learning disabilities in the 3rd grade)

I say you pick sloth, and then don't do the paper.

....

but don't actually listen to me, as a teacher, I would laugh, give you a pat on the back for being so clever, than write a zero in the gradebook if you did that... maybe.

One of my friends did something similar to that for a paper on minimalism. It was one piece of paper that said "minimalism."

Fortunately, he handed it in early enough for the teacher to tell him that he should probably write a real paper.

I know many educators who would argue that waiting to test and identify learning disabilities until third grade is way too long!  And as a 7th grade teacher who frequently deals with kids who are on 3rd and 4th grade reading levels because they haven't been "identified" early enough to get the support they need early enough in their education I tend to agree.  Now, if you're talking "high-stakes testing" which is definitely different, I'm with you!  In fact, our 8th graders lose a good 12 instructional days to testing!  That's more than 2 weeks that we can't teach these kids!!  Sorry, you hit a nerve.  I'll be quiet now.

Sloth or gluttony, I think that those two are the easiest to identify in current American society.

Lust (my personal fav) has a lot of potential for human action and reaction to it.  The leaps and bounds people with go for it.  The sacrifices and immorality it will lead people to.  It's in my opinion the more interesting of those three choices.  ;)

Watch Devil's Advocate.  It's on cable a lot now.  You should be able to catch it.

Its easy to go with Sloth, Gluttony, Lust, and Wrath.  Pride is fun though and a whole lot more vicious than people realize.

Lust and Gluttony are the ones im most guilty of.

I lust for Chris and Damien and then drown my sorrows in food and cheap wine when they dont return my calls.

End of story.
