DexCon 11

Even though it wasn't an official KR event, I had a blast being able to show up on Friday and seeing folks.  To all the well wishers, I give thanks.
1. Helping unload, set-up, and prep the mod was fun.
2. Getting a chance to sit down and have slow, relaxing, non-IG or KR-based conversations with Joe, MaryBeth, Jason, Derrick, Matt White, Matt Magnus, Emily, Amber, Sam, James, and crew let me see a whole new side of folks I never knew and felt great to see.
3. Talking with all the new, prospective players and newcomers to KR and LARP in general was fun.
4. Staying up to stupid and ridulous o'clock in the morning with Derrick, Hillary, Jason, Mike Obes, Jason, and Matt Magnus was a blast and had me in pain from laughing so hard.  Mostly Derrick's reactions to certain things.
5. Derrick has taken his Asian fetish to whole new levels... and he is never allowed to sit next to me again.  He has the "bad-touch" and made me feel dirty. 
6. Derrick: "I just wanna touch it... it won't fit in... (Derrick's head under the table, next to my lap)...".  :-X
7. Playing the redshirt who gets pwned by Joe's furbolg... fun!
8. Seeing the new players come up with all these ideas and such and the tenacity in which they will not give up when trying to leave the mod site for IG reasons. 
9. Emily giving the physical example of what "heaving" truly means with her knockers.
10. The many faces of Teresa...
11. Geoff Schaller late at night is a KISS reject.
12. I love my new glow sword.

My quotes of the weekend...

A character insists on following the NPC Smith to the basement to watch a Brazenite Ritual, the Smith refuses, the character claims he won't interupt anything he just wants to watch.  Me to Brendan "That guy sounds just like me!"  Brendan "Actually, he's playing a Chroniclerite Scholar",  Me "Wow, am I really that annoying?"

A HUGE thank you to Josh, Dani, Liz Hill, Matt Magnus, Zach, and Mars for coming out and volunteering for the Convention staff.  You guys helped make the event a success!

I heard nothing but glowing reviews from the convention attendees, including some veteran players that have been watching KR for years, and got their first taste this con.

Dexcon was a lot of fun. I wasn't sure what I was running into when I was going and was a little wary when I first got there that I'd have a boring weekend. But I'm glad how quickly that changed. It was great seeing everyone there and I was glad to help NPC for you guys and volunteer for the convention.

-NPCing for KR and getting to see all the different kinds of people who were interested
-I liked the story line developed, it was simple but interesting all at once.
-Furblogs ^^
-First group's amusing antics
-Second group's armor
-IG KR party and getting to play Ilana for kicks
-Winning a ridiculous amount of gold for Gaia and Chronicler
-Shutting the Box, twice
-Talking to people I've always wanted to IG but never got to

I couldn't put my finger on it at the time.

Absolutely AMAZING convention!  I cannot express how badly I needed that kind of vacation... even it it did involve me sleeping 2-4 hours a night and working all the time.  Some highlights:

-Hanging out with KR people OOG, which is something I don't get to do nearly enough.
-IG party was a blast!  (PS: Sorry for being a bad date, Mars, but I did get you to shut the box!  )
-The OOG party and chatting with a bunch of kindred nerd souls until stupid o'clock.
-Both KR mods had a great turnout!
-Winning third place in the boffer tournament solely because I managed not to fight Wally at all.

-Watching The Dark Night on the way home with Josh, Dani, Mars, and Jon.  Best movie I've seen in a looooooooooooong time!
