Alright just figured I would throw this out to the kr community. I had a problem with my boots this month, and clearly new pair. Does anyone have an idea of where I can get a good pair of waterproof boots that I perhaps can wear all seasons that are not about $400.

Son of Sandlar makes some solid, waterproof boots that'll last for a good long time and require minimal upkeep. (Spray it with some waterproof silicon spray, sometimes with leather conditioner, so on and so on).
I've been wearing their forest boots which are lace ups and midcalf and 80% waterproof, considering they are lace up boots. The Peasant boots are much more waterproof, as in, entirely waterproof from what folks have told me.

I love my Son of Sandlars and they were 250 with shipping. I think its closer to 200 if you get them at the New York Ren Faire in person. I have the peasant boots Sam is referencing, and they definitely keep your feet completely dry. I try to clean and condition them every two months or so, and they stay really nice.

Sandlar boots start at $300 for the peasant boots now online, just fyi.
I bought a pair of the suede calf high moccasins back when I first started larping about 10 years ago and finally replaced them last year because of the wear. But I oiled the hell out of them the day I got them and they stayed waterproof until the seams started giving out due to wear and abuse. I used regular mink oil, and an occasional brushing to get rid of the mud after it dried.
If you do go thisway though I recommend replacing the thin soles that they come with with a vibram sole for traction and comfort. Any good shoe repair place should be able to do it for you, although it does double the cost of the boots.

Are you talking about the Sandlar boots still? As far as I know, Sandlar doesn't make moccasins. Unless you mean their lace up buttoned boots.

sorry wasn't all that clear was I. No I was talking about the ones you find on all the various websites like Dark Knight or Museum Replicas. With a little elbow grease and alot of mink oil those things can last quite a long time. I have a very limited budget that my wife allows me for larp stuff each year so I have to make things last as long as possible, so those boots were a big investment for me at the time.
