A Knight Realms Valentines Day Massacre!

What: A Special One Day Event
When: Sat February 14th
Where: Camp Rickabear -  414 Kinnelon Road, Kinnelon, NJ 07405
In-Game info: TBA

We have been looking at some alternative camps and found one that we would like to try out for a special one-day event! We really would like to get our foot in the door so to speak with this new council and this is the perfect opportunity.

The only day available was February, Sat the 14th, and we have got some very interesting plans in store for it. We are trying to stray away from the traditional “Festival” with tournaments, and instead hold a one day event that has a lot of cool mods designed for groups of 8 – 10 adventurers, culminating in one large epic mod.

A lot of interesting in-game information will be posted within the week, to describe exactly what the event is in-game. Pricing will be the same as other festivals, although details for NPCing will be posted a bit later. All the buildings will be in use and heated.

We really would like you to come out and game with us at this new camp so you can give us your feedback on it!

Does the place have some rooms with heat?

You are making it tough James.  "Dear, for Valentine's Day how about if we frolic in the woods and beat one another with plumbing supplies and throw beanbags?"

From what little information I was able to dig up, it looks great, 332 acres (though 40 acres of it is water), 2 Large Lodges (sleeps 30-40 each)! a smaller lodge, 3 cabin sized buildings and 3 large Yurts.

Any chance of getting a camp map upload?

Sounds like it would be a great camp!  I don't know if I can make the romantic V-day event, but I'd love to see the camp!

At least it falls on a 3 day weekend (which helps a few folks, like myself).  Being a single guy, spending Valentines Day beating the snot outta folks seems perfectly fine with me (which shows how my social/dating history is like).  :P

I would be interested in seeing another winter camp.

My only concern is that the event falls on the 14th... on the 21st we have Dreamation, and on the 28th is the normal 3 day Feb event at Sac.  That's 3 weekends, back-to-back.  That's quite a lot we're packing in for the month of February.

ugh... valentines day. charlie is right... these are the times in a persons life where you need to weigh your priorities... go out and have a romantic day with my boyfriend? or dress in furry bodice armor and hit things with plumbing supplies... the sad thing is that most girls would chose the date... i'm having a really hard problem deciding! Lol. James your just asking for a boatload of upset OOG girlfriends that day lol

I dont know what people are complaining out.  We usually have events on Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc.  It just always seems to work out that way, nothing new.  Turn out is usually just fine for a full event - Festival may be different but people can always leave a lil early at night to make that date if they feel so obligated.

Well, I personally know why people are complaining.  It sucks to have events on a holiday.  Kristen is right though, this has happened before (although I don't remember Valentine's Day being the big one, it was usually Mother's Day and Easter that got hit hardest)...soooo there's nothing to do about it :)

If TV has taught me anything, I'll draw an example from Futurama.

Leela: Professor, you'll offer Guenter the hat and, Fry, you'll offer him the banana. We'll let him choose whether he wants to be intelligent or just a mindless animal.
Farnsworth: Come on, Guenter, take the hat.
Fry: No, the banana, the banana!
Farnsworth: Consider the philosophical and metaphysical ramifications of the-
Fry: Banana, banana, banana!

Thank you.

I have... I was sitting at home minding my own business when two absolutely gorgeous women came to my door and asked if I would like to talk about the big G to the o to the D.  I said.. "Yes!"

I have real deep philisophical statements about the temptations of good, and how they are really stronger than the temptations of evil... but that's boring.

Katsucon is that weekend -- I've been running their Guest Green Room for 9 years. It's in DC every year President's weekend.

Oh, well.  It's happened before.

BTW, that means no Gideon/Carlos/Garrun either (yep, Geoff is with me for the con).

A simple way to know if going to KR on Valentine's Day will work.

Say to your significant girl/guy/turnip/made up friend "Wow, I can't beleive that James guy, scheduling an event on Valentine's Day. Is he nuts?"

If their reply is
A) 'Yeah, he's crazy.'
Don't go. This will not only hurt you and your romantic chances that day, but will certainly be used for future arguements as well.

B) 'Well, it's not such a big deal, it's just a made up holiday anyway.'
See answer A. This is known as a test, and you better pass.

C) 'That sounds pretty cool. Go and have some fun with your friends.'
This may be legit and you can get away with going, but know your partner well, for this may be a stealth B.

D) ' How much build do you get?'
You're dating Sam Roberts.
