On Higher List Learning...

Since we may learn during the Extended and the Regular Portion, but cards are not updated, does that mean if I purchase Deflect as my new skill during the Extended, and Master Proficiency I during the Regular Portion, may I learn Deflect again as a repeat skill during the Regular Portion, or since it was not updated on my card and thus not really available yet, am I unable too.

Because your card is not updated, you don't have it to be available for self-teach yet.  You may, however, learn one new skill and three of one you already know (or 4 total).

I just want to check this part here, about Insanities.

If someone is afflicted with an insanity during the extended portion (major or minor, may require additional explanation), do they begin to show signs of that insanity's development during the regular event?

I thought Geoff was explicit when he wrote

Two questions, If you arrive early friday pre "main event" are you still a part of the extended portion and if so say you get there at like 9 in the morning how much would it cost and are you still eligible to learn 2 higher list skills technically speaking.

Oh and continuing on that would the build blanket still apply to you if the price for the extended part is any less because 40 bucks is a lot for a couple extra hrs.

The price is what the price is. If you want to PC or gain the benefits you have to pay appropriately. I understand your concern but making specific rules for each situation and day and time someone can show up is a lot of work, and I guarantee we'd still miss a few situations. If you show up early like you suggest you are likely best off just npcing and earning a few extra points for your character.

For those of us doing both sections of the event, because the extended portion is meant as a teaching sort of time, and we won't be using learned skills during the main event anyway:

Do we treat the Week as "extra practice time", that is, can we apply the Build from the Feast portion of event to our "potential" prior to the Feast's adventures actually starting, or do we need to actually wait for Friday night to roll around for Friday's build to be available to us?

I'm thinking this specifically for things like... if someone would end up with enough build to learn a couple instances of Strength, but because Strength has such a high Build cost, would they need to wait and do a second bit of roleplay to take that second instance? Secondly, if someone just wants to try and learn everything over the Week, and be available to teach and adventure on the weekend, do they have the Build, because they've paid for the trip to the town, or does it not actually apply until they reach the town?

I realize that this is kind of a moot point, because you don't "need" to roleplay teaching yourself a second instance of a skill,

Since your cards will not be updated till the next event you can spend any of your available build at any point and time during the weekend. The only exception to this is the higher list learning rules.

Learning Higher List Skills: You may learn one new, and one aready learned higher list skill during each portion of the event.  You MUST be present and role-play the learning at that portion of the event to make use of this!  (i.e. - if you do not learn the new skill during the extended portion, you cannot learn two new skills, even if you were present for it).

NPC shift questions

1. If we want to do extra shifts during the week portion, do we have to sign up for them at check-in, or can we just show up to logistics and say "use me"?

2. Can we sign up for our regular weekend shift at the Wednesday check-in, or do we have to do that on Friday?

1) I would prefer the comfort of knowing when i'll have the extra hands, however beggars cannot be choosers, so if you randomly decide you want to switch to NPC mode, absolutely do it, and it will count as long as it fills a full time slot.

2) You can sign up for both, whenever you sign in.

Depends on some varying factors. At the very least, fishing and boating will be allowed during the first half. We will try to allow swimming, but really come and find me before doing so, so I can determine if it is ok at the time or not.

For the actual weekend part there is absolutely no swimming unless a lifeguard is present.

Some basic details about sign-in and start time for the first part.

- Sign in will begin around 5pm on Wed, and there will be no official opening ceremonies for this part. After you get your card, get in costume and get in game and do your thing. Ill start sending out a few random encounters as I find that I have NPCs and when I am not busy signing people in. Ill take the opportunity to say one last time, do not rely on the encounters to be your means of entertainment, instead embrace your characters mundane and relaxed RP with others.

- There will be a stack of blank index cards in logistics. If you would like to request a teacher for a skill or list you have been having trouble getting, very clearly write your name and character name on the card along with what you are hoping to learn. Higher lists themselves are not likely to be taught and there is no guarantee that a teacher will go out as a result of filling out the card, however we will make an effort to make it happen.

- At least twice each day I will be placing hidden treasures, boxes, satchels, essences etc.. out in the woods. So the moral of the story is if you go out once to find stuff and dont find anything it is entirely possible that an hour later there will be things in the places that you just looked.  We will be trying something new with locked boxes found in the woods. Some will have riddle locks that require you to find me to open, others may be locked and require you to bring the box to logistics to use the appropriate means of opening the box.

Will the process of making codices/manuscripts/tomes be able to be done over the two portions of the event or only once during the event total?

The reason I ask is it isn't really something you have on your card as a skill you are learning.

While I think it would be best to get them done before the event, I see no reason to not accept the items on Friday, however just make sure to actually enjoy the weekday portion of the event.

It's a bit too early to know if there will be a fire warning, we will let you know if it happens. Really it would only happen if we get a sudden stretch of really hot and dry days, which looking at the forecast for Sparta won't be happening this week.
