The number of refugees crossing the rift grows each day, and with their coming, there is concern of the ability to feed all of them, house all of them, manage all of them. How do you turn away people who have lost everything, and yet, do you choose to have your people starve as well for the sake of strangers? Sometimes the hero we need is someone who can make tough decisions about life and death on a battlefield; though sometimes the hero we need is someone who can make tough decisions about life and death when the main enemies to defeat are hunger and exposure.
The leadership of Travance has been out in force within the Proper itself. As a result the rebuilding and refugee settlement has started in earnest. The Valdalis Crossroads has seen a few people settle down; but most refugees simply continue to move deeper into the lands.
In Alisandria the Lord and Lady have made their presence known and they are personally seeing to the assistance of settling some of the refugees. There always seems to be a soldier near at hand to help keep the peace. The food stores are well guarded and looting on the whole been prevented.
Port Valandra in Dreaga'mire has never seen this many ships docked or anchored at once. Anyone who can swing a hammer or thread a needle has been tasked with fixing the ships so they can take to the the sea again. Yet, so many reports come in of ships that will forever look up at the world from the bottom of the ocean. A few of the most damaged ships in the port are being dismantled and used for parts. There are more sailors than ships and without the constant presence of the nobility, things might get out of hand. So far though, attitudes seem positive.
Unfortunately Crimhagen in Dreaga'mire has not fared so well. Lord Tartaros had to evacuate all residents and has declared the settlement uninhabitable for the time being.
A silence has settled over the land of Kaladonia and many there are uncertain to whom they should turn. The lumber mills that were damaged are being brought back to operational status. When the time comes, there will be plenty of work to be had. Yet, some say that the life of the land has been diminished. It will take more than just time to heal these wounds.
Honor's Peak in Pendarvin is second only to the Proper in rebuilding and refugee settlement. The watch towers that lost their tops during the demon attacks have new construction which lifts everyone's spirits. Vindholm has been innundated with families of Dwarves and Barbarians that were unwilling to split up. Instead, they have crammed into housing that was not designed to accomodate so many. The overcrowding may become a problem but the promise of more repairs is just around the corner so things have not yet gotten out of hand.
Vallenroe in Ostcliff, never a large community to begin with, has similarly become overcrowd. Driven from their home in the deep woods a tribe of Goblins has taken up residence in Tolaria. Their water source had been fouled by a demon and so far they have peacefully integrated into the community.
