Some tips to make sure the ball is safe and enjoyable for you this year...
* Bring your own mug / cup, and spares if you can.
* Bring a plastic bag to store dirty cups / mugs / serving stuff in, for the trip home.
* Bring a spot cleaner in case you oops some of that wonderful food onto your outfit.
* Bring a Costume Repair Kit for your outfit. While this is a non-combat event, the outfits tend to be fancier, and Murphy is crashing the ball even though he wasn't invited. Safety Pins, Hot Glue Gun, Needle & Thread, etc.
* It will likely be cold at the end of the night. While the forecast this weekend is not as bad as in the past, we've had a thick layer of frost on cars as we left the hall. Bring layers to stay warm, and a scraper for your windows. You may not be cold as you begin the event, but you may be by the end. (This IS upstate NY...)
* Eat, and eat WELL, before arriving. You won't get to eat until after the event starts, and introductions are made. No one wants you to be hangry. (There is the Apple Bin Farmer's Market a mile or two down Rt 9 from the hall, they make good sammiches.)
* Look up your card before you get there, and figure out what skill you want to purchase ahead of time. Much easier than using a phone on-site.

RAIN IS FORECAST FOR SAT. NIGHT.
The forecast lists "a chance of showers" in the evening, with chances increasing later at night. This means it may not be raining when you get there, but it likely will be when you leave.
HAVE RAIN GEAR and a dry change of clothes handy!

Thanks for the tips! Never attended the ball before but since you posted the tip about the rain gear I thought I should ask. Is the ball an indoor event or outdoor event or some mixture of both?

Indoor, although there is an outdoor garden in the area that is fun to wander, and you will need to be outdoors to get from your car to the hall.
