March 2019 Alt Event - Imperial Insurrection
Lord Chancellor Enzarond, Advisor to Duke Balliol has announced that the Duke himself is arriving to the village of Grimwyr. In response to this, the people of Grimwyr are hosting a grand feast -- The Duke’s Feast -- in honor of his arrival and in hopes he will see their plight help them from the destitution wrought by Count Everest.
In the dark corners of the village subjects meet and conspire against Duke Balliol. They know this is their chance to finally make a move and do something about the tyrannical leader and his sinister advisor, but are still left with the question of how to get that information to Count Everest. When one of their spies inform them of a potential portal option to get past the mystical barrier, they must act fast to begin their escape.
And still from the north, a Gaaldron Commander also makes his way to the village with his retinue. Hearing that the Duke would be making an appearance in Grimwyr, he intends to “have a conversation” with him about the lack of support for his people. Too many soldier deaths have created a crack in his dedication to the cause, and left him wondering if he’s fighting for the right side.

Factions
Citizens of the Empire of Kormyre
The loyal citizens who have earned their right to citizenship and believe in the values of the Duke’s right to rule Kormyre. Many live in destitute towns and villages in the territory, being told that Count Sebastian Everest is the cause of their unfortunate state. Duke Balliol has promised to bring them back to prosperity by conquering the treasonous Count.
Lord Chancellor Enzarond (James Kimball)
The advisor to Duke Balliol. He is almost constantly at the Duke’s side and works explicitly for him alone. Some have said he is so dedicated to his work, that he almost appears to be in multiple places at once.
Ser Tristram de Liones, Legion Commander of Duke Balliol (Steve Oros)
Loyal soldier to the Duke’s forces. He has shown unwavering dedication to the cause and continues to serve as one of Duke Balliol’s commanding officers. While pleasant and concerned for the people, he is strict and unbending and does not tolerate dissent or sedition, often carrying out the law with his own hands.
Magister Mathias Melentres (Ben Herman)
A more subtle and silent figure in the local government of Grimwyr, Magister Melentres works with the loyal populace to root out rebellious elements within the forming Empire. Their concerns are the clear and absolute order of the empire, and claims to have their directions specifically from the Lord Chancellor. Those caught by the Magister seem to disappear before ever serving prison sentences.
Knights of Kormyre
An organization calling themselves the Knights of Kormyre are a rogue faction fighting against Duke Balliol. Still a small group, they operate mainly in the deeper territory of the Duke’s lands. A very recent organization, they’re aiming to do their best to aid in Count Everest in fighting the Duke, but the difficulty lies in escaping the territory.
A spy within Duke Balliol's Forces (???????)
No one seems to know who this person is or anything about them. They’re shrouded in mystery but claimed to have some personal favor with the Duke. Rarely attending resistance meetings, they mostly communicate through dead drop letters only signed “Esstir”. It’s clear that’s not their real name, but the information is always solid.
Matilda Smith (Alisia Rueda)
The face of the resistance, Matilda had formed the Knights of Kormyre some weeks after she learned of Duke Balliol’s plans before the war started. She doesn’t believe the Duke is right and knows the truth behind the propaganda being fed to the populace about Count Everest.
****NOTE: Information about this character being in the resistance is an OOG notice for the sake of those players in that faction knowing. Only they may come into game with this information.
Gaaldron
Commander in the Gaaldron Army with his personal guard. These soldiers have arrived with the express intent of dealing with the Duke regarding the massacre of their own forces at the hands of Count Everest’s armies. Their loyalty is clearly in support of Gaaldron, but at this point their loyalty to Duke Balliol could be considered questionable.
General Golrak Hogtooth (Jacob Ferragamo)
A more recently made General in the Gaaldron Army, after the tragic loss at the hands of Count Everest’s forces, he’s become disillusioned over the notion of Gaaldron’s involvement in this human war. With seemingly little support for his troops, he’s decided to go beyond the Hobgoblin leadership and look to the provoker of this war for answers.
Lieutenant Rogarr Brightbane (Kat Gentner)
An unwavering right hand to General Hogtooth, Rogarr understands the breaking of the chain of command that the general is committing to. Even knowing this could end their military careers, Rogarr also wants what is best for the citizens of Gaaldron. Secretly, Rogarr has learned of the Knights of Kormyre and seems more swayable than most.

The Lakefrost Tavern and Inn (The Blackbird/Barn)
A smaller sister location to the Boar Tusk Inn. It usually hosts the more rowdier crowds and later Last Calls.
The Boar Tusk Inn (Dragon’s Claw Inn)
A quaint inn for the village of Grimwyr, and also host to most of the town hall meetings that occur. Recently it has been getting redecorated for the arrival of Duke Balliol.
St. Magnier’s Chapel of the Blazing Sun (Barracks Cabin)
This newly built chapel is home to the religious parishioners of the Empire.
Magister’s Sanctum(Lakefront)
This is where the Magister has set up shop, from here they provide advice and counsel to Lord Chancellor Enzarond. Many of his scholars and apprentices stay here, but still bring many of their scholastic tools and equipment to the Boar Tusk.
Prison (Adventurer’s Guild)
Criminals and prisoners of war are brought here for processing and often punishment. The prison is also used as a barracks for the village militia.
Haunted Manor (Winterdark Manor)
An uninhabitable building for its proximity to an outcropping of the Witchwood, this was once home to the Lord Chancellor who still holds fondness for it.
Artisan’s Shop (Pendarvin)
Host to many artisans on regular days, but frequently even opens hospitality to other villagers.
Horse Stables (Djinn and Tonic)
Commander’s Barracks (Alisandria)
A temporary housing for the Legion Commander and his entourage.
Fish Market (Drega’mire)
Trade Bazaar (Kaladonia)
A tidy space for the travelling merchants to stay, or any other passerbys.
