Gypsy Jam sessions! I think next time we should add some bodhran... plus also, could one of the Yhatzis please tell me what song I learned to play?

Saffron's cake

The songs we were playing are: Boys of Bluehill and Harvest Home

There will be more cake...

I had a great time this weekend, I wish I didn't live so far away so I could play more often!

Highlights:
Baking brownies till 4 in the morning, I got to see a lot of interesting conversations in the inn (Mary Beth's peppered bacon was pretty awesome as well).
Wally's before game storytelling meeting was great, liked the powerpoint, good job on Emily for the pictures :)
Hanging out with the Celts is always a good idea.
Main mod was scary, everytime I saw the green glow stick, I was pretty sure I was about to be magically sniped. Every black shadow was just as terrifying as the one before it.
The party was great, thanks to everyone that came and hung out and/or donated food.
Jam session!!!!

Lowlights:
Spraining my ankle just before main mod started. Everyone was very nice about it though, I appreciated that!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again in September.

This was my second event and it was as much fun, if not more, than my first (the alt-event in May).

Highlights:
  • My first late-night cabin invasion.  I somehow got away and screamed my fool head off for the guards.  And the bad guys didn't get my gold.
  • My first market faire, which was totally awesome.  The amount of work the players put into their wares is absolutely amazing.  My "alchemical gummy frogs" were a success and I sold out.
  • My first chance to see the Monastery and participate in a Mass.
  • Getting to tell Von Ritter that people still do, in fact, talk about his fight on top of the Dragon's Claw Inn against the vampire.
  • Getting to finally meet the famous Ming Na
  • NPCing the first night and "holding the line" against the advancing players.
  • While NPCing, not knowing if we were supposed to be shouting Tight-Fist, Typhus, or something else.  The RP there figuring it out was great.  Thanks to all involved.
  • Feast was delicious as always.  My thanks to the cooks and servers.  Job well done.

Lowlights:
  • Just the bugs, but players were generous with sharing bug spray, so there were few problems.

I had a load of fun at this event, even if we didn't get there till 1 AM on Saturday. Maybe next time we'll leave when planned instead of at like 7 PM (stupid five hour drives, grumble grumble grumble...).

Maybe next time I won't get hauled off to help save hostages when I was gonna speak to the nobility; that might be a good plan for my continued survival.

And mark my words, one day I will find a use for that blasted Freeze Water spell I keep getting! One day! I WILL DEFEAT THE ANTERIES SEA!!

Thanks for making it a good time for us zany Rhode Islanders. Maybe we'll be back sooner than every two years next time (we're hoping for sometime in the Fall)!

"Yep, that's the life of a Wild Mage. Emo, emo, emo."
"Isn't it more like 'emo, emo, lightning bolt?'"
<Later, sing-sing voice> "Emo emo Lightning Bolt, emo emo boom!"

This was a great event for me and was a blast overall.
Learning that I am terrible at Texas hold-em and lucky at blackjack and eventually breaking even.
Realizing that Rhamulus resents his brother to a small extent, mostly the being constantly inebriated. Thanks to Efgail/Jared.
Sleeping in Yhatziland.
Ram-you-lust the Virile! Exploder of women's panties! and my apparent rival: Ambrose, the Angry Badger of Travance!
Gypsy party
Bridge mod was interesting. Standing right next to the fuse when it was lit was one of those: "Oh... well this sucks" moments right before sprinting to the safe side of the bridge.
Subsequent belt bridge. Just wow.
Learning that starting a story with "So I was hanging out with the gypsies" never bodes well
Goblin Ganking before main mod.
0-60. Things not to do.
Never actually entering combat as a PC.
I spent too much time with the gypsies. I had to try not to adopt the outrageous accent.

Only downside was sleeping until the clean-up hold. I feel like I missed a lot of good Sunday morning RP.
Staying in the most out-of-the-way cabin has it's downside.

Edit: One of the most interesting things to happen after the event was turning the waitress at The Ugly Mug in to a future LARPer. Way to go Matt.
Being told that I should get Deflect ASAP because it can stop a slay and responding with that if I'm fighting something swinging Slays, I screwed up somewhere.

Some of my memories from my first event:

-Up Sides-
1)  Miscellaneous IC chatter talk in character in the goblinoid line before the chanting.  Deciding which parts of the hu-mons were tastiest.

2) Seeing some of the incredible costumes and realizing I will have to put more effort into mine.  I sort of half assed it for the first time going to a game, and seeing how almost everyone was in great costume, I wished I had spent a bit more effort into mine.

3) RP around the hookah and at the party.  I got to know a lot of people IC and OOC because of that great RP.  Up to, and not excluding, the fastest man I have ever seen run away from a gazebo.

4) Spinning Poi and actually getting tipped IC for my performance.

5) Explaining to people that I normally just drag wounded people out of fights, unless I am drunk, and then I do stupid heroic things... and then had the battle scenario where I went behind enemy lines and ended up working the belt bridge.

6) Watching peoples mixed reactions to the Gypsy.

7) Seeing how quickly people can traverse a campground when a scream happens.

8) Threatening to curse the person outside my cabin window if he broke in, and having them actually go away.

9) The kidnapped woman scenario, the bridge mod, and the goblins sneaking into camp.

-Down Sides-

1) Getting blocked in at the end.  While a good portion of the people that come don't have a 4 hour drive, blocking the vehicles of people packing to go sorta sucked.

2) Having to wait until September for another game I can make it to.

Let's see...where to begin?  This event was seriously one of my best LARP experiences ever, so it might be hard to narrow down.

Highlights -
- Excellent RP all-around

-Accidentally pushing Kwildar's buttons while he was hallucinating.

- Taking a few minutes to randomly rename people (Like The Angry Badger and Ramulust only to hear people talking about them by those names on Sunday)

- Lina telling me that I have grandchildren (because she started to Teach people after I instructed her in that skill)

- Feast

- Yhatzi Advertising Company, llc.

- Hearing about the attack in the Yhatzi cabin Sunday morning, then hearing Rudolf loudly reminding everyone that he's not a Yhatzi.

I'm sure there's more but these posts are supposed to be relatively short...right?
