Highlights:
A lot of good things happened this event. They all pale in comparison to the big one, though: Gideon took a death, and a particularly nasty one.
Even at level 72, with four lower lists, two Higher Lists, four Legendary Artifacts, and a slew of other items... he died. It wasn't unfair, it wasn't unavoidable, but it was something that was a known possible outcome going into the situation. Gideon and Arden (along with Geoff and Norm) knew going into what was a standard Sorcery ritual that this might happen. We had a 15% chance of failing, and a 5% chance of insta-death on top of that... a 0.75% chance of this result. And we rolled it.
The RP that came out of this was fantastic. The doubt that filled Arden, the resolve of Gideon to get back up (figuratively) and keep going, the realization that even though I'd never cast a ritual yet on my own in my career, I'd hit one of the worst outcomes possible, the notion that even the established legends of the town could go down at Luck's whim - it was potent. When later that evening, Gideon was offered a chance to sacrifice his life to save others, he balked... solely because he'd died not two hours before. That will have repercussions for months, if not years, to come.
Beyond this - the event was filled with awesome. Feast was amazing (Thank you, Luis!), the opportunities to teach were excellent, as always, and Friday Night as Carlos was a blast. (Topper for Carlos - someone else reading for him, and him getting a taste of his own medicine.)
Wally, you're a magnificent bastard. I hope to see you play Boss NPCs again and again... from a safe distance.
Edit: Bah, was thinking of 2012...

Jumping the gun on the year there Geoff, it's still 2011
I also had a wonderful event, with some amazing roleplay that also came out of bad situations.
-I always talk about how much I love teaching, but this month it was all about learning. I loved the lessons I got from Gideon and Ardin, even moreso because it was the first time either of them had taught me anything, and look forward to more to come in the future.
-Being able to use my (albeit limited) knowledge of Gaaldron to fill people in on what to expect from the Imperious Legion, even though they were a splinter group. Was interesting being someone that people came to for information.
-Interesting conversations with Father Morgan and Barak about a very specific topic that could take Winks in a much different direction than I ever thought was possible.
-Wally and Liam, you guys are jerks, and I love you both for it. The barrage of Command Goblinoid was utterly ridiculous, and it's something Winks has always feared could happen. The RP that came after the battle because of it, especially with the McKraegars that I spoke to, was absolutely wonderful. And of course it opened up the floodgates of people asking Winks, "so you don't have Willpower yet, why?" Honestly I started asking myself that, so don't worry, it's just a matter of time now.
See everyone at the Banquet!

This weekend was pretty interesting for me, as I feel like fate has been showing its hand. And considering one of Chronicler's domains is fate....
I got to have some wonderfully silly moments, as well as some pretty heavy RP (which, sadly, was almost all internal or with one/two other people at most)
Highlights:
Silliest to most serious:
-Dealing with Santa's Elves, watching Quan Liu getting coal, and then getting Ironwood
-Watching Oryx learn requiem of bound fate. Every part of that was fantastic, especially the waylay and the enslavement.
-Competing with Paige for selling flowers (her purple roses and my pins) until we realized we weren't actually in competition and started supporting each other
-Selling my pins and having it affirmed that people like my art.
-Realizing just how much knowledge the scholars have, and that I'll be one of them, able to learn all this, and will be kept in the loop of all this knowledge. Kinda humbling for me as a new character.
-The RP when Paige was brought back to life, and realized her sacrifice hadn't been in vain
-The whole main mod this moon led to some very interesting VERY internal RP for me, balancing grief, anger, and hatred versus acceptance, inability to hate, and a wish for understanding, all mixed with strong shock.
-Breaking down post main mod due to said mix of feelings, finally coming to grips with the fact that my primary thought processes match with Chronicler's tenets.
-Declaring to Aleister that I wish him to eventually train me to be his replacement as priest of Chronicler.
Seriously, here I am on my second event, taking my second list. I had PROMISED myself that I wouldn't decide on my third list for at least a few more months, and would go where RP sent me. And then main mod happened followed by learning that Aleister had converted.....

Forgot one very important highlight:
Right as feast was ending, I started having an anxiety attack, which typically manifests in me as depression, uncontrolled tears, etc etc etc. Not fun. I caught it coming up, but without the support and help I got from a lot of you in the community, I wouldn't have been able to shake it. This was probably the easiest I've ever gotten through one of these attacks, and less than an hour later I was perfectly okay. Thanks so much to those of you who helped (for many of you it was just by being around and continuing your own RP).

Even though I had work that disrupted my ability to go to the actual feast itself, awesome weekend.
Caelvan had so many things going mentally on this weekend
Friday Night(NPC Shift)
-Being both types of Barbarians, good who warned of bad and bad who was just pissed
-Helping the New Players learn combat, by doing a small bandit group, we asked for money, women, and shoes
Saturday
-I got back and start talking about being Colin's squire with him. Learned a lot from him and that was before I even was his squire
Main Mod
-Seeing Leandra on the ground behind the huge line of enemies, grabbing Ravn, a new player(don't know her name), and Adarius to go after her and get her out of there
-Going to help someone and scaring away the thing that was attacking him with my bow....only to be downed a minute later because a group of four came after me
-After I was down I applaud the NPC who rotted my weapons and leg....you were very thorough
-Being so confused in the Monastery after being woken up 7 minutes into my death count
--Got so pissed when I was ordered to give over my last arrow during main mod when I just found an opening to shoot from(Damn being a private)
Saturday after main mod
-Top highlight, Got squired to Sir Colin of Kaladonia (Caelvan was pretty nervous that he wouldn't be able to handle it)
-Rose went missing and Colin turned the experience into a lesson for his new squire
-Goley your mod with the drink/dream was awesome, Caelvan had a lot of emotional things going on during that
Sunday
-OOG: went to get breakfast at a bagel place, my girlfriend got an one dollar that had a written B and a R on the back where it says one.
-Finally got to teach someone....not one, but two lessons
-Learned a new game on how to improve my 1HE
-Got "Elfnapped" by Sorel, Rose, and Colin to go to Winterdark slung over Rose's shoulder
