60 inch mace was created by Relawin (Relawin)
I have been searching the internet in search of a 60 inch latex mace and have only found one at Eldritch for around 120 dollars.  I was curious if anyone else knew a site or seller of such a mace or other two handed sized maces that I could peruse through.  Thankyou for your time.

The KR webiste has links which show various latex weapon manufacturers and other larp-related products we use.

www.knightrealms.com/index.php?option=co...&navstart=1&search=*

The some big favorite front runners that some of the players here have used been Iron Liege ( www.knightrealms.com/index.php?option=co...=127&task=view&id=63 ) and Ateliers Nemesis ( www.knightrealms.com/index.php?option=co...=127&task=view&id=53 ).

My personal favorite has been Iron Liege, but only due to the awesome custom weapon job he did for me.  I have seen some very nice Nemesis stuff that the other players have.

Would not a 5 foot mace be awkward to use?  Even made from latex it would be topheavy and rough n the wrist and arm.

From what MB told me, you dont have anything close to a 5ft "mace" Charlie.

It would be two-handed, which dramatically changes how you use it.

I'll echo Paul's statements about Iron Liege and Ateliers Nemesis, and also clarify that "2H Blunt" covers hammers and morning stars, as well.  So if you don't need just a mace, check for War Hammers, Mauls, etc. as well.

Ba-zing!

Obviously you haven't seen my hammer.

But, a 60 inch mace would be too heavy to have a latex version of.

Also, depending on the style, would be impossible.

It may seem impossible, or maybe the person interested in getting the mace is incredibly tall and works out a lot.  :P

An interesting question would be, if there was a player who was larger than average (say 6" foot 9" inches and well built) and he/she wished to use a 1 handed weapon.  A balanced and built 1-handed weapon for them maybe the size of a bastard/2h weapon for someone else.  I know the rulebook has weapon sizes that dictate what weapons are categorized as what by size.  I was curious to know if someone else was to grab the weapon, would it still count as 1 handed?  Or even better scenario: shield coverage.  A large shield for 1 person maybe a small shield for another due to size difference.  Are weapon/shield/item and user size ratio factored into how they are handled?

I believe that Skimmel, Mitts and myself are the tallest guys who play KR and believe me a large shield is still a large shield when one of us picks it up. The max dimensions are 54"x36" according to the rulebook. I'm 77" tall so a large shield can cover up to 70% of my body, there is no way that a shield that big can be interpreted as 'small'.

I also use a 1HB which is 40" long, 2" less then the maximum 1-handed size, I think it is pretty well balanced for someone of my height.

Length / size is not a factor of ratio, for two reasons - 1) even with the most drastic difference (such as Elyse & Mitts) isn't enough to make what would be a large shield for Elyse anything else for Mitts, and 2) everything is assumed it can be picked up by ANY player and used.  If Zin goes down and Sam Mulligan picks up her shield, we don't want to have to call a hold and figure out size percentages with a calculator on the spot to see if he has the skill or not.  ;)  We keep it simple so we can focus on the RP, rather than work on math word problems.

I know that Joe has a two handed latex mace which he occasionally uses as Sabatheous.

It is probably pretty close to (if not) 60 inches. There's a picture of it in the photo gallery... go to the Jan 06 event, under the picture titled "Walkway of the Dead." He's on the left holding it.

I've worked with a 72" Latex polearm as well as several 54" and 60" two handers in my years at KR. You can use them safely, so long as you are mindful of your swings, as with any latex or boffer weapon.

For sake of safety, it behooves any player to practice with their boffers or latex weapons prior to an event to ensure they can confidently use their weapon in a safe manner, or they will risk losing their combat privileges.

Thankyou for all your feedback.  I was actually practicing with Jas in the backyard and found the 5 ft mace to tire me out rather quickly.  I'm going to make another one with less open cell foam, the tape doesn't stick too well for me and I have to keep fixing it, that's probably around the minimum length of a two handed weapon.  It'll also be easier to find a mace around that size in latex.

Also to help clarify it would have to be a mace because I have cleric weapon.  Following Valos forces me to use a mace of any size.

So thanks again for all your help.

I don't carry any of that type, nor do I know of a company that reliably makes them without a long wait time that would not be too whippy for LARP use.  That said, if you do happen to find a maker, let me know, as I would be interested in buying and carrying those and other quality two handers that can be reliably purchased.

I can make you a VERY nice ornate version in boffer, if you're interested... but other than that, I hope you can find one - I know three or four other people who would be interested in buying the same who have looked without much success.

Buy domestic.  Not only do you save on shipping, but you help your own economy... in a fashion.  ;)  The EURO has been kicking the US Dollar's butt lately.

I swear, IronLiege and other weaponmakers should put a "Made in the USA" label to help boost sales and such.

It really depends on the size of the order and whatever mitigating factors seem to plague their productions of late. Their stuff is tough as nails though and I've seen them really put through the ringer and still look good.

As much as I like Greg's stuff over at Iron Liege, I've noticed he canned his pole arm and shield line, which were unfortunately the only parts of his line I had particular interest in. I've now also seen no less than 3 of his weapons snap in use at KR under relatively mild combat conditions. Hopefully his new cores are compensation for that.

Atelier's is also pretty awesome, but I've got very little experience with them yet to really judge their overall weapon quality. Their custom work is phenominal though.

He's still making two standard round shields. I can only assume your shield was either custom or you paid the $50 premium to reproduce an "old" model. I fully support his weapons, but I would like to personally see where he goes with his "standard" line.

I really like Greg's stuff, don't get me wrong. I'm just personally waiting to see how his new stuff comes down the pike.

well its not really canned! we are just starting over  we needed a more managable line of equipment, we are going to be providing a line pole and we are going to introduce shields agin but slowly!  So its not gone.

also you can order a custom weapon of wat ever you want shield pole dosent matter you commision one ill make you anythin you want! and it will be custom to your character. no one else dose that! ;)

If your gona look the part use a weapon that matches!!

Yeah, that one from Eldritch is the only one I found but It's quite pricy and the overseas shipping turned me off.  I've kind of given up on using a mace that large any way and will probably be wielding something more...wieldy.

Good quality boffers can last a year or more with the right care.
Although most people don't take the proper care of their weapons (Like me)
When I sit down to make a weapon I usually make enough materials to produce and extra one (or two)
So that when the eventual break/3 hours in a hot car come along I'm ready to replace it.
Besides...no one makes 30 inch wide hammer heads in latex....

Volk made me a plain boffer staff in September 06.  Fr. Edwin carries it everywhere (its attuned) and it sees both combat and other staff uses (like feeling ahead on dark paths when I do not want to shine a light, or feeling if the ground is slippery.  Its in great shape and I must average an additional 50 to 80 strikes (attempts) per Event.  I do wipe it dry upon coming indoors, and store it properly.
