Latex Swords

15 years 6 months ago #46239 by Sergei Petsho (Bran MacInnes)
So, I'm looking into latex swords, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what brands I should look into.  I've looked at Calimacil, and it is a mite too expensive for my wallet.  I'm not looking to spend more than $60 on a sword, and wanted to know if any more experienced players  knew of some sites/brands/what have you that are comparatively inexpensive but still decent quality.  I was looking at strongblade.com and darkknightarmory.com as having the best selection of what I'm looking for.  Anyone care to shed some light on this?

You're going to be hard pressed to find many swords under $60.  That being said, I recommend checking out www.badgersden.com/Store/ .  I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them, swords and other things, and have always had a possitive experience with them.

Take a look at this line.  Inexpensive, and ridiculously durable.  If you get a chance, also look at some of the videos with the Warlords line by Windlass.

Only warning on Warlord collection that I got when I ordered a dagger from it... DO NOT LEAVE IT IN A CAR... Supposedly, they will melt very easily if left alone... I'm not willing to risk losing them for it, so I can't say its firsthand knowledge, but just wanna put the warning out there...

Matt, that's an issue with any latex based weapon.  I'll be the first to admit, I've left two different weapons in a hot car, and both melted, different manufacturers.  So long as its properly cared for, a latex weapon SHOULD last a few years.  Palnatoke, the brand Sean uses, were beatuful and durable weapons for me.  Kevlar reinforced tip, etc.  But left in the car, they melt and get sticky.  Hence why I stripped the latex.  Windlass also has a kevlar reinforced tip, and I highly recommend any weapon with one, in fact, I'd suggest passing on any weapon that does not advertise it.  I have had a couple weapons from Forgotten Dreams (their older generic stuff) have the tips break off after some considerable use.  And that's NOT something you want being swung at you.
