Hello everyone, my name is Ahmetia Campbell and I am hoping to have the money to join the group for the February event, I currently haven't made a character yet but I am currently reading all of the 200-300 pages rules and editing it as I go to be able to carry around with me and look over when I have the chance. Hope to see you all soon!  ;D

Maybe someone can highlight for me what sections of the rules I need to know first once i know what I need to know, I can get studying the characters and make one though I have an idea whom it might be I gave no decision as of yet whom of my many regular online role playing characters to use.

Hey there Ahmetia,

On behalf of the staff let me welcome you. If you have any questions as you are wading through all those pages of rules, know that we have an active forum community here were marshals can chime in and help you out, or feel free to contact me at newplayers@knightrealms.com for anything I can do.

As for where to start if you look at the top of this forum, you will see a list of links:

Main Website
New Players
Policies & Statements
Online Rulebook
Image Gallery

Take a look at the "New Player" section and that should get you rolling with the "need to know" type things.

Also please don't forget to setup a signature. We do have a rule on this forum that all posts must be signed with at least your real first name and a signature is the catch all that most of us use.

Again welcome and we hope to see you in February,

I'm not so sure anyone can give an accurate number on that, as it does tend to fluctuate based off weather, holidays and other factors. I'd say we get generally 60+ in the winter and late fall months, and 70-80+ in the spring-summer months. Don't quote me on that though.

Well, I took a look at what I was thinking might be a good choice for the character I was thinking from a book I am writing, it might not work out after all and I might need to think up a whole new character unless you guys can see a gypsy who sells roses.

I haven't gotten to that part yet, I was just thinking about it and I thought it might be a good chance to try and develop that story further.

I'll still have to fine tune her to fit into the realm, if I couldn't' do the roses though I would have to start from scratch.

Selling roses in the winter in Travance would immediately get my attention.  :)
It could also be the basis for an in-game trade and hook you into interacting with others.

As someone who spent a good hour or two praying in front of a small rose shaped necklace, I think I can say with fairly good authority that one can get their hands on roses to sell in this game world. ;)  Sounds interesting... A floral gypsy.  I can almost assure you that if my character gets his hands on a coin or two, and sees yours selling them, he'd be fairly well excited, and would likely buy one if its within his means.

Well, looks like Rosemary Cander aka the Rose Maiden (title of the book why I needed to know if she'd be available to do so) will be entering the realms ^_^

Another question based off my character, would fake flowers be appropriate or would they have to be real? I am starting a list of everything I'd need for her while I read the rules so I know how much she'd cost to construct. And fake flowers are much cheaper and lasts longer then real.

I am also thinking of donating some props that I have had laying around (though it would be nice to purchase them it would not be necessary) that I would hope you guys like.

You can always try to peddle your roses at Market Faire.  As Kwildar/Malcolm said, he would buy one, as would I.  Spring for a half dozen or a dozen and see how they sell.  "A wed wose - how womantic."  Lilly von Schtup in Blazing Saddles.

Talk to James about the props donations, or maybe Kristen.  If accepted you will get at a mini8mum some service points.  SPs are good for all sorts of things.

Fake flowers are just fine. We use a lot of fake plants for decoration around the camp. Never have you seen so much plastic ivy outside a craft store.

My personal opinion is that fake roses are just fine.  I've a bit of a black thumb, after all, and I know that a fake one would last through the weekend, so long as I can manage to affix it to myself somehow. :) (I'll figure something out. ;))

I have seen on the rules that any food I'd bring has to be in original sealed packaging, but dose that include food I might carry around with me, I plan on making a large, thick, lined leather knapsack for my characters needs such as  holding place for a warm cloak on cold days, would it be appropriate to carry food in time appropriate storage bags if it's buried underneath things such as the mentioned cloak.

Incase any are interested in the status of my rules reading, I'd imaging you're not though as this only affects how soon Rosemary will be officially having any form of character sheet and decided buffers and whether or not she'll be npcing full weekend for a bit or just having lots of npc experience but is still a pc will be dependant on the rules and sense I get from it, I am currently 1/7 done of reading rules.

As well, to save money and time of contruction I have a wooden staff in my closet I rarely use, keep in mind I do not plan on actually hurting someone with it, but would the wooden part alone be cause to never bring it to KR? I will understand and support if it is not allowed, it' simply something I am checking while adding expenses.

And as well, about wht time would you say I should arrive, I've estimated I'll need somewhere between 1hr 45 min - 2 hr to get to the camp from my home and have time to spare.

How much is the rule book as well?

As per the food... I don't know about any rules concern, but I do know a little about bears... and bears like food.  Becareful about the storage of the food, especially at night when you don't want to wake up to a bear eating your knapsack.  Remember, Steven Colbert says bears are one of our greatest threats today.

He also cut out the goofy smirk one of the candidates had after his big speech about hunting down Saddam and blah blah blah blah *smirk* XD But hopefully I'll figure out something, linen bags would be both think but full of holes, but my cloak is thick and woolly or thick woolly and leather like the knapsack would be, so I don't know if the thickness combined would work.
