New Player Ready to LARP was created by Kaz (vortre127)
Hello. I'm going to be a new player and the February event is going to be my first time LARPing. I am probably going to be a Sylvan and I would like to use a bow. I am planning on bringing my own bow and I think it would be a 20 lb drawback or less but I'm not sure. I will get it checked out and see if I pass the test that archers need to in order to use the weapon. I am currently working on trying to find some things that would make an alright outfit for my character, but I'm not sure if I will be able to have a full outfit.

I was wondering if logistics has any of the safe for LARP arrows and a spare bow in case my bow would not be approved? Also does anyone know what types of padded arrows are allowed? The last thing is, are there any necessary things (outfit wise) that I should make sure to have?

Thanks for all the fun at this past weekends Camp Con and I look forward to the February Event.

Hey Trevor. My name's Conor, I play a Selendrian Ranger and I'm a New Player Marshal as well as a Logistics Marshal.

I don't believe Logistics has a bow or spare arrows, unless another Logistics Marshal has seen them.
I have seen arrows in Logistics, but they are painted like the arrows of a PC, so I don't know if they were stolen IG and they haven't picked them up yet or not.

As to the type of arrows, only the arrows like these will be allowed at Knight Realms for safety purposes:

As for costuming, the only thing that is really required is woodland colors since their home nation is all woodland.

Costuming And Makeup
Sylvan Elves prefer practical clothing made from naturally available materials. They wear predominantly earthen colors that help them blend into their woodland surroundings. You must wear elven ear tips when playing a Sylvan Elf.

Thank you for the information. Are those the only ones allowed because of the soft head to the arrow or is it because it also has a flexible shaft? I'm asking because I found arrows that have the soft head, but I haven't seen the flexible shaft on them. Now since you are a ranger, do you use a bow and if you do, how many arrows do you think someone should have? And would it be possible for someone to bring an extra bow and/or a couple of arrows to the event to let me borrow and see if I like using a bow?

I don't know the exact reason Knight Realms switched to a required arrow type beyond it was safer.

As for your other questions, I used to use a bow, and pick one up every once and a while, I suggest at least 5.

As for the borrowing, I'm sure someone will see here and post if they have spares.

If you are unsure of the draw weight of your bow, I do have a scale that I usually bring with me. I'll be sure it's available for the New Player Marshals that will be handling cards for new players.

First off, welcome to Knight Realms. I have to ask my fiance, but I think it's safe to say, we got a spare bow to lend you for the weekend should you need it. Arrows, you may have ask around a bit for, but I will see what my group can do.
I'm a crossbowman myself, but I assure you, Knight Realms has some amazing Archers.

Not a new player marshal but look for the tall Elf wearing all blue during the Adventurers Guild mods. I am still pretty new myself

Not a new player marshal, but a fellow folk of the woodland realm. Find me in game if you are interested in the path of a ranger, including learning some rather nice Druidics. Or you can just stop me at any time to request escort from this Guardsmen. Also a note: Woodland Stealth is totally worth the 10 build. It'll help you get to your bunk in sticky situations at night.
