I'm a new player doing her first game this weekend.
I'd like to play a Physician. What costuming tips and any other general suggestions for a new player do you have?

As what is affectionately called an 'Alt-O-Holic' (in other words, I play a good many characters of different races/classes), I'll give my 2 cents.
Always bring a set of black clothes for NPC purposes. Dark gray/brown/neutral work too.
Make sure that the shoes you use are GOOD. Aim for period if you can, but aim for comfort above all else. Many hiking boots mens/womens come in brown and black. Break them in before hand: There's nothing worse than blisters!
All the socks.
Remember that your character will evolve over time. All my characters have changed costuming slightly (or majorly) since I first created them. If you use a very generic white shirt, it might become a stitched gray or silver shirt later, or change to red! Some older players have awesome evolution photos.
Think what your physician might need/use. I've seen some players carry bandages or a medical bag (period if possible, or a wooden box). Plastic bottles filled with sand/liquid to imitate medications, etc. For example, my Romani Healer always carries a pack of tarot cards, my Dryad Druid/Bard carries a drum, and my Londwyn Alchemist has a tome or two.

Orientation is usually 9pm.
Depending on the weather, it is either in the main building (the Inn), or in the Barn.
If it is cold it'll be the Inn, if it's medium to hot, and there's room, it'll be in the barn.

Hi, Shannon! I'm Jeff, also a New Player Marshal. Information on the website can be outdated at times and you're both welcome and encouraged to tip us off so that we can fix it.
One solid piece of advice I can give you, is that while you should know what skills are on your card, how many body points and/or crafting points you have, etc., you shouldn't let that restrict your roleplay. When you're playing your character, what should guide your actions is your character's personality. What would they do or say in that situation, regardless of the fact that you can count your tag skills on one foot?
I'll echo what Conor said earlier, feel free to ask more questions between now and the event--and also during the event if you see one of us and you're confused about something (making sure to put your fist on your head to signal that you're out of game).

Can I learn everything on the Physician list? I recall reading somewhere that you can learn all five rank 1 ablitiles four of the rank 2 , three of the rank three and 2 of the rank four.

On the lower list of physician in the Core Rulebook yes. You can learn everything in there.
There is a Heroic List called Pioneer Surgeon which is where I think the confusion is.
