Get out of FFXI while you still can!
I'm sure Icecrown will only take like 16 hours TOPS to clear!

This falls into the same category of the lady who spilled hot coffee on herself and then sued McDonalds.
DON'T PLAY A VIDEO GAME FOR 18 HOURS!!! This is like if a fat person blamed a food company for making food too delicious to resist. Rediculous.
Seriously. If you find yourself doing something like playing a VIDEO GAME for 18 HOURS, and then being angry at the game manufacturer, you need to take a looooooooong look at yourself in the mirror and figure out where you went wrong in life.
Ugh. There's something wrong with the world.

lol, ya, but we take time to eat and sleep....usually,
the problem isn't they played for 18 hours, its that they didn't do anything else! i get that a game can be fun, but people should still take care of their health

I think the main difference is that A) we're active and not sitting in one spot for 18 hours, B) We're social (Teamspeak only goes so far), and C) We also eat and sleep in that time - in fact, it's a part of the game. That, and we don't require boring grinding and rep farming to get to a boss. We encourage EVERYONE to be involved, regardless of level.
The once a month instead of every night is a welcome reality check, too.
It's actually a valid question... but one that makes me appreciate KR all the more.

You guys never played tournament chess with adjournments. Two games a day which can last 6 hours. If they are adjourned...

I was going to one up you all and talk about the time I did something geeky for even longer, but came to the conclusion that wearing something like "playing a game for hours on end to the point of constipation and mental stress" like a badge of honor was probably just silly.
However I will hijack this thread and say I've been on a morphine drip longer than anyone else I know.
Ha Ha! Eat that I usurp your geekyness with my lawndartosity
