So i have read that Johnny Depp will return as Jack Sparrow for Pirates 4. He will also be playing the mad hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Last but not least he will be playing Tonto joining a possible George Clonney as The Lone Ranger. Alice in Wonderland and Pirates 4 are set for 2010 and 2011 releases.

Johnny Depp needs to go away for a while.  Sure, he's a good actor, but the market has been saturated.  Especially in Tim Burton movies.

Speaking of Tim Burton, I am fully convinced that he will ruin Alice in Wonderland.  I love Nightmare Before Christmas, but every single one of his movies looks exactly the same.  He tries way too hard to be cooky and gothic.  If you haven't seen Kevin Smith's bit on Tim Burton, go out and rent An Evening With Kevin Smith.  Right now.

I really hope I'm wrong and Alice doesn't suck...

He's playing a Japanese dagger?  And an Irish pirate as well.  That Depp is both sharp and deep (sorry folks, could not help myself).

You sir win the smart award, because you are 100% right, the only film i've ever seen Tim Burton do that wasn't so "Tim Burton" it hurt was planet of the apes and we all know how well that went.

I thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a bit of Burton stretching himself and a great Depp performance. Batman Returns was the same look as Nightmare, Victor, and such, But I'd see a Burton directed version of E. Gorey stories.
Still want to see Depps' performance in Quixote.

I don't even care...its prolly the remnants of the lil highschool goth in me, but I <3 Tim Burton and all his predictable color schemes,  black and white stripes, dark themes and blue filtered camera lenses.    I just can't help myself.

I've got to agree with Kristen here.... There's just something that's always attracted me to Burton films.  Less the color schemes for me perhaps, though I admit I'm goth at heart, if not in deed these days... It's the often very subtle back-bite of humour and satire that is thrown into the works.  Though, when the humour's right out in front of you, it can be pretty darned great too.  I'm looking at you, Beetlejuice.

He's got black mascara on his soul

I also don't care for remakes, but the colors were really out there, the cotton candy sheep were cool
I also have a deep love for Big Fish, the end sequence even breaks me everytime I watch it

Three movies have made me cry ever.

Edward Scissorhands

The scene in Babe where the farmer sings to get him to eat

the end of Rocky IV

True story. (That old geezer singing to the pig really does me in though.)

I'm jumping on this bandwagon.  I love me some Tim Burton, and now that I think about it, I have an awful lot of his movies in my DVD collection.  Beetlejuice, Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, his batmans, and if I'm not mistaken, Sweeny Todd is Burton too.
