All this talk about a trillion dollars for this and that is unsettling, as most people are not able to comprehend the magnitude of such a number. Tina sent me this link today:

That was actually pretty cool. I can't believe someone took the time to actually put that together.
And just as a reminder, let's try to stay away from steering this thread into a political meltdown.
Although, I'd totally vote for Scrooge McDuck. I mean, c'mon, think of all the whacky hijinx that his nephews could get into at the Whitehouse. Just sayin.

The interest, at a paltry 5% on one trillion bucks is 50 billion a year or almost 140 million a day. You can buy governments for that kind of money. As a matter of fact, if one had to sign the documents for every purchase (with the caveat that one could not give it away in large chunks), you would not go through the interest. Let your imagination run wild, even in the gutter. NFW can you spend it.
We all have fantasies.
Custom latex weapons
Lessons from an Olympic champion Saber/Archer/martial artist on how to use them
Custom clothing from Seville Row (wonder if they do historicals?)
Custom armor
A servant to carry the crap around for you
SHIELD BEARER!!
Silver and gold serving dishes.
The hope diamond (too big for a nose piercing, but I could fit it into one of my rings, I guess).
Baths in Dom Perignon (over -rated).
Kobe beef
Sushi grade tuna
Custom clothing and all the shoes that Michelle could ever wear - and a climate controlled building in which to house them.
Your private island
(De plane boss - de plane!)
With aircraft and crew to get you there
Hot and cold running willing men/women/clean sheep/whatever
Your own ship/yauht/ Flotilla/schooner/full size repro of any sailing ship ever built.
F18, with decent electronics and the training to use it (but to learn, you will not be spending money!)
Private concerts with the London Symphnony Orchestra/ The Who or maybe AC/DC
You wouldn't be touching the interest until you began trying to buy governments. Some great deals in Africa and various ex-Soviet Republics, like Carjackistan. Still, you will find that once you own a government you are in danger of making more money, else people would not buy them.

if i had that much money to spend at my discretion.. first.. i would buy a small pacific island nation.. and then id buy a 3rd world nation and rule it with an iron fist.. then id go about to create a clone cyborg army. also... a light saber and a star cruiser... i believe those along with the R&D should bur through that money.. oh also genetically engineer a cold virus to allow me to create actual animal people... yes i do believe those things would burn through the "trillion" dollars... $1,000,000,000,000 <= one trillion

Nah. You cannot create a cyborg army, clone or otherwise, until you perfect the tech. My guess is even with a few Billion a year going down various rat holes, you will be dead before it is done. Only so many billions can go into that without duplication of effort. You cannot put the money in a pile and actually burn it ALex - not cricket. And while you are ruling that third world nation with an Iron Hand as a tyrant, you will apply various lessons and in no time it will have a thriving economy which will make you even more money to spend. Bwahhahahahaha.

I'd buy my own automobile company. The interest alone could keep it profitable for about three months. Then I'd need to ask for more money...

Cannot give you mind control, but you can fund research into it. Lots of tricksters out there, just looking to separate a physics teacher from his hard stolen earned trillion.
