Is there a marked difference between larping and just hitting each other with sticks?

if you wear a costume and speak funny you're larping... otherwise ur just a twit beatting ur friend with a stick. also these guys go WAAAAAAY too far with "keeping it In Game".. if i saw someone drive up and ask about a car.. TO ME that's "ok real life time'.. apparently they think otherwise.. to paraphrase bugsbunny "Larpers R the craziest of peoples"

Wow...I have doubts as to how much of this is real vs. how much was staged, simply because of the logistics of all of it. They found the car in the middle of the woods, while a bunch of people were standing around it larping? Seems a little convenient, but whatever. They were insane to keep going even though a serious, real-life matter intruded. Like ALex said, if someone comes up and asks for me by my real name, I drop the accent and get serious.
I did a little digging by the way, and it appears that Operation: Repo does most "reinactments" of repossessions, rather than actually doing the real thing. They're even making a movie starring, get this, Joey Buttafuoco, playing a character.

Yeah
Who finds the address for a Larp to repossess a car, wait for the guy to get home
I just like the hideous acting of the wizard and the princess

This thread has gone in a slightly creepy and akward direction. Let's try not to insult our female base, especially ones on staff.
Back on topic, that show sucks. It's worse acting than Dog the Bounty Hunter. And seriously? A reality show about reposessing cars? People will watch anything.

I call fake on some of these shows. Notice how they all show their faces?
If she was embarrassed, she wouldn't have signed the papers to show it.
Fake I say.

I am sorry if my comment was read creepily, I have no disregard for the intelligence that lies behind the eyes of our female players and the enjoyment of being able to interact with others who share my hobby no matter what sex or preference
Just that the people cast for this scene where very stereotyped for the idea of gamers, I have seen beautiful and athletic people battle beside me in many games and feel that it would have been more awesome if they had happened upon a group with members that looked more like Viggo Mortenson or Liv Tyler, Antonio Banderas, and then Brian Blessed as the Wizard.
We also have young and old, which is really awesome, this just seemed like a small group of same age friends who larp by themselves because they don't have the great community we have. God Bless KR.

And for that matter, why is the wizard always the fattest player?

Yay for things that happen! Also, we are cooler than the loosers on TV.
It does strike me as ironic, however, that when I try to explain KR to my 'unenlightened' friends, I always tell them "It's like D&D only standing up."
And they're all like "lol wat?"
And then I'm like "...Yeah."

Reminds a lot of the Reno 911 episode with Patton Oswalt playing a larper and he gets tasered and pepper sprayed. I'm sure McLovin would've handled the situation better.
As for why the wizard is always the fattest player... Rob as Apollo would debate that point.
