Drake's Equation may well have some new variables

Not sure if I should dump the entire article here, but here is one really salient point that I couldn't leave alone.

Some astronomers believe there may be hundreds of small rocky bodies in the outer edges of our own Solar System, and perhaps even a handful of frozen Earth-sized worlds.

If that is true, that is so freaking cool.

The expression 'handful' is really wasted by whoever said that. I mean, how could that possibly help to express the numbers hes talking about when you cant even fit one earth-sized celestial object in your hand.

Made me laugh.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to post that.  Yes, yes it does.  ;D

At least he didn't say there are "hundreds and hundreds." That style of telling numbers is taken.

Sagan is dead, so perhaps it passed to the public domain.

And for an earth sized body to be "handled" I can only refer you to Atlas - and briefly Hercules.

And then Perseus made everything ok.

Perseus: George W. Bush of the ancient world.
If you have a good enough weapon, it can solve any problem.  Now if only the gods can take the presidency away from Bush.

Yes. I know he's back in the radiant pool of light up somewhere, but it's still his thing. I like how DeGrasse Tyson is doing Nova, but I don't want him to sound like Sagan to make up for it.
