What do you need of me?
Therapy Day One was created by Gwynedd (Gwynedd)
Hi Everyone,
I had my first round of IVIG treatment today! It went very well. I did not have the bad reaction that I was afraid of. All I had was some mild nausea and a headache.
I do another round tomorrow and if I do well on that I can go do the rest of the therapy at my neurologist's infusion center.
Thank you all for sending good thoughts and prayers my way.

(From the Jefferson Hospital Cafeteria)
Day two is underway: 90 mL/hr, 600 mL total to be infused. We'll be here a while.
This should be the last day for Jefferson; tomorrow we move over to the doctor's office for more of the same on Weds, Thurs and Friday.
Suzi is in fine spirits, and it is truly a blessing to have the good thoughts and prayers from y'all. <hugs> to everyone.

So what exactly is this treatment, and what is it supposed to do?

Suzi has been diagnosed with CIDP en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_inflammato...ating_polyneuropathy . IVIG is a week-long set of visits where she gets new antibodies infused to replace her current antibodies that are attacking the myelin in her peripheral nerves.
After about six months of these treatments, if all goes well, she'll regain her sense of touch and then be able to walk unassisted! Woot!

We'll be sure to await the removal of the green headband with boffers in hand.

But you have to keep using that really neat walker IG, even after your full recovery. :)

I have to admit, that walker, even if reduced in its role to just a prop (Which I pray is achieved) is in fact, made of a whole boatload of win. :) You guys really found a gem there. :) I'll be standing by, eagerly awaiting news of how everything is going for you and Suzi, Paul.
