Edit: It's the largest anime convention held on the East Coast, I think the second largest in the country after the big expo in Cali.

Edit 2: On a related note, anyone who didn't get a chance to pick up a weapon at Dexcon should know that Secret Shop will be selling off their remaining Calimacil inventory at Otakon. I won't be there, but Reona should be able to help you out.

I wouldn't say it's that much of a nerd fail. Not all anime fans are larpers, and not all larpers are anime fans. I know of plenty of anime fans (otaku's or hikimori's) who I would never wanna see in a LARP. Nothing personal, but some of those rabid fanboys (and/or fangirls) have some major malfunctions. $:-\$ As well as vice-versa for some LARPers I know.

Otakon is 1 of the largest of anime conventions, along with the NY Anime Festival, I-Con (which is more gaming, but has plenty of anime), Anime Boston, NY Comic-Con, etc...
