1.44 MB floppy

It was a dark time, an age of AOL, before the light of Google allowed surfing deeper into the web, to all corners of the intermachines.

I still remember the demonic screams of the modems, the daemons of web applications, the load times.

It is a mercy that the twitter generation only knows the pain of the fail whale.

Couldn't find the film in question on the site (but it's early and I have refrigerator eye), but wanted to pass along this tip, in case it might be of help to anyone.

Blip.tv lets you encode video files into .flv format and stores them on their server. From there, you can generate embed code for videos of different sizes, eliminating file size problems. It's just like YouTube, but with higher fidelity. The service has a lot of other great extras as well, from the capacity to create channels to the ability to run ads with your video. And it's free.

If you want to see what it looks like, this site uses all blip video ( www.nyc24.org/2008/image/index.html ).
