So my awesome mother got me tickets to see Spamalot for my Bday

the bill says that John Cleese plays god in the show.

My question is has anyone seen this show and do they know if cleese is in the show or is it a recording of his voice.

It's still an awesome show, though.

I went around Christmas and it was, in fact, excellent, hilarious, and all the things one would expect from ridiculous British humor.

I saw it when it first came out, when Tim Curry was playing Arthur.  I wet myself.

Not sure if hes still on the show or not.

The original big 3 are long gone from the show.  The voice is recorded.  Its an awesome show.  I believe it won a Tony in its first year.

You will have a great time, Quaz.  Tina and I saw it last year, shortly after Curry left and it was still great.  God is a recording.

Tim Curry fans.  See "Oscar" a wonderful comedy with Curry and Sylvester Stallone carrying the water.  Curry is an elocution instructor and Stallone is a godfather like character who promised his father (Kirk Douglas) on his deathbed that he would reform.  The supporting cast is full of excellent, known people and the person who cast the roles was right on.  Stallone, like Arnold, has excellent comedic timing

Quags...yes Jon Cleese's voice is recorded and all of the big names are gone, However all of the good supporting acts are still there. Sir Lancelot is extremely good.

To keep the show going they have hired Clay Aiken, and I can not stand him, so I went with a very closed mind on the whole Aikin thing.

However when you go and see it they have cast him as Sir Robin, and he is in fact quite good, and with the exception of every teenage girl shrieking when he first came on stage I would never even known it was him.

I am not giving anything away, but If you even partially like the movie you'll love the show, and don't worry they do the end justice...which was something I began to wonder the first time I saw it

Oh and as for Arthur its no longet Tim Curry...but it is an Eglish Actor that has played Sir Arthur for Shakesperre so don't worry he does a great job.

It was one present I enjoyed giving b/c I basically received it too.  You'll love it, JC or not.  And his recording as the big guy is spot-on.  ...always look on the bright side of life...do-do, do-do, do-do-do-do-do-do-do

A friend of mine went with the second (or third?, but not the first) cast and something happened on stage and the cast lost it...to the point that they actually had to stop the show, close the curtain, send someone out to explain that everyone was laughing too much to continue right now but they'd start up again as soon as they were able!  only Spamalot...

...and remember it was your AWESOME MOTHER who gave you the tickets!  :D
