Chess boxing. 3 minutes if marquis of queensbury boxing followed by 4 minutes of chess. Rounds continue until one of the contestants gets a checkmate or knocks the other out

i heard about this. saw a match on youtube. only thing that could make it better were if you played with a shot-glass board, and it had cheer leaders.

I think living chess was always meant for this.
I prefer the faire-version though.

It could also be improved upon by blackjack and hookers.

Is it sad that my first thought upon reading all of this was: "Huh, I wonder who would win in a match of this new sport... Billiam or Haroldson...?"

Now that would be worth something to see... though it really depends on what you do first: the boxing or the chess.

It's one to five minutes of play, and then a round in the ring then back to play. lather rinse repeat. the specifics are determined by feather middle or heavy in both categorizes, if memory serves.
they try to make it so that in order to not participate in both you have to be really good AND really lucky.

I believe, and don't hold me to this, that there are both speed and non-speed variants, but that speed chess is more common, usually a 10-15 min game.
if memory serves the game i saw was a 12 min game, and they alternated 4 min in the ring 4 at the board back and forth. which hypothetically could give you as many as six rounds of chess and 5 of boxing before someone runs up the chess clock.
Thought i doubt the games often make it bast four cumulative rounds.
During the chess rounds the players wear sound proof headphones.
The Wu Tang Clan are big fans of this sport and they even have a song called the mystery of chess-boxing, though i'm pretty sure the song was initially unrelated.
what i love most about this game is it was originally a joke that appeared in a comic, a satire where the rules were suggested. somebody ran with it and now we have this new game, mostly in Iceland. fancy foreigners with their creative ways to spend time, and promiscuity.

The song Mystery of Chess-Boxing was a reference to an old Kung-Fu movie of the same name (also called Ninja Checkmate).
I'm not a very big fan of rap or Wu-Tang, but I know my Kung-Fu flicks.
