Yes, the grass is growing under the bird/cat feeder, young rodents are being born, and Shadow and Onyx are:
a - leaving entrails on the front mat.
b - bringing their kills in the house, for me to admire and remind myself of Puss in Boots.
c - leaving their excess where I cannot help but see/step on it when I go our barefoot.
d - all the above.

Today's count is a set of mouse entrails, two mouse heads, one whole mouse and a chipping sparrow (one of the good ones, according to DS&WW).

I won't specifically mention Tucker's contribution made this morning.  ::SIGH::  This is the dog who chased a rutting 4 point buck off the buck's chosen turf.

Thinking about it, Craig, I am certain that drugs have nothing to do with it.  Not even a little.  The cats have not had catnip for a while.

The spring slaughter is progressing nicely.  Of course, in the original days, Dancer, my 16 pound polydactyl cat, would bring me fresh pheasant.  I would prepare it for dinner and always made certain he got a choice portion.  Damned turkey have replaced the pheasant (the latter of which were not native anyway).  Turkey are too big for the cats and to my knowledge, too quick on the takeoff for Tucker.  Nothing like walking with the dog and hearing "thud, thud, thud, thud" and then seeing an explosion as the turkey launches itself at a very steep angle.  Very fast runner and launching time.

Sometimes when im breaking in a new hunting beagle it goes after a turkey. Hilarious seeing a group of beagles ocassionally crashing headlong into a tree or rock as they stop watching where they are going looking up at the bird who has decided to cheat at the foot race.

Oh ye of little faith:

<<Polydactyly, or extra digits, is a common trait among cats, particularly it seems, among Celtic cats and cats on part of America's Eastern coast and South West Britain. This distribution may well be linked. Except for Twisty Cats, polydactyly is not a product of bad breeding. It is simply a naturally occurring genetic variation and, as noted later on, polydactyly is found in fossil reptiles - meaning that five digits might be the abnormal form! Only one form of polydactyly is known to be harmful.

In a 1967 issue of Britain's "The Cat" magazine, Mary Collier of Axminster, Devon wrote Can any readers of THE CAT give me any information about 6-toed cats, sometimes called 'Boxers' or 'Boxing Cats'? I have recently acquired a very fine kitten of this type [...] What I particularly want to know is their district or origin, or country if outside the British Isles and the date they may first have been recognised." In February 1978, the Daily Mirror carried a series of letters on polydactyl cats. Jennifer Wellstead, of Penzance, Cornwall, had asked if any other readers had cats with 6 toes on each paw. A "Mrs I" of Kettering, Northants, replied that 6-toed cats were favoured as witches' familiars of witches. Mrs Farley, of Havant, Hampshire, said she had 6 cats, 3 of whom had 6 toes and 2 had 4 toes on each foot in place of the ‘normal’ 5. She added that a recent litter had produced one kitten with 7 toes, 4 with 6 toes and 2 with the normal number of toes.

Polydactyly (six or seven toes) varies from the classic "mitten cat" through to cats which simply have more toes than normal, but no "thumb". A correspondent to the New Scientist noted that the innermost extra toes on the front paws are often opposable and some cats use them with quite startling proficiency to manipulate small objects with almost human dexterity. Some owners of polydactyl cats joke that their cats are more intelligent because of this and represent the next stage in feline evolution - the ability to open cartons and cans unaided.>>

So, my 6 toed taqbby, Dancer, was polydactyl.  Lived to the ripe age of 18, and was a pure hunter to near the end.

Pterodactyls, not quite.  I remember when Oogur came up with this round thing he called a wheel, but until Oona invented the axle, it wasn't much use.

Amusingly enough, I have a female yellow tabby who's polydactyl. So that's a double oddity, I suppose.

My runt kitty has five toes.  Ralph A. claims she is demon spawn and will attempt to take over the world.

Ironically, shes' afraid of everything and runs from everyone - I dont think thats a good trait for world domination.

Consider the source :)

Cats pretty much run the show.  Ours bank on the screen door and wake me when they desire entrance.

Dog - The giants feed me, walk me, pet me, and dry me when I get wet.  They are gods

Cat - The giants feed me, let me out and in when I want, and stroke me.  I am god
