no i change out most times before i go home. i don't think the diner on the way back would appreciate a load of people in medieval garb armed to the teeth in enough foam weaponry and seed filled packets to bring down an elephant taking up there booths. its bad enough as it is us all yelling at each other from table to table trying to get each others take on the two and a half days that just whent on :).
i do drive past a white castle on the way home with a misty look in my eye seeing as how me and a couple friends are gunna seige that place one day 8)

Diane is lazy, so I almost always am wearing at least some of my garb on the way home - no quiver of course, but heck; I've gone to diners while at anime cons and SCIFI cons in full costume.

Ever see that scene from the movie Role Models? Paul Rudd is talking to a bunch of larpers in a waffle house & the waitress comes over? I've heard stories from waiters & waitresses... a bunch of sweaty nerds in tights & fake armor are the least of weird people they get. Larpers tend to be loud, dirty, & annoying... but they order & pay their bills. Try working a table of drunk college kids at 4 am after they get kicked out of the bars, want gravy fries, & then realize they lost their wallet/purse along the drunken way & then start throwing up in the bathroom of the place.
As for our assassin in the picture... definitely not in NJ. 9 out of 10, he's driving back from/to a convention.
I used to wear parts of my garb after an event long ago... but not anymore. I've found showering & changing into my civvy's way too nice not to do on Sunday. I will wear my leather pants to dinner on Saturday nights though.

I didn't have time to change out of Clait's gear one month, so when Zach and I stopped at the rest area on the way home, I was still in full Celt kit... and a woman who saw us in the parking lot asserted that I must travel a lot. We had a nice conversation with her... and then I dropped the accent.

Not for KR yet but I used to do it all the time before and after hours at the medieval faire I worked at. If I went anywhere within a 30 mile radius, they knew exactly where I was going to/coming from. Anywhere else, I had the delight of being live advertisement for people to come.

I've yet had the chance to do so with my KR character's outfit, but I've done so at anime cons in the past :)

I don't think I've ever left the game in 100% FULL garb (armor and sword belt and whatnot come off), but definitely the base clothes. I've also definitely driven home from it barefoot in pajamas.
That said, I've been in restaurants and whatnot in full theater costuming, renaissance fair, or convention regalia on more occasions than I'm capable of recounting. As long as I'm with other people in the same dress, or there is CLEARLY some kind of convention in town, I don't feel weird at all about it.

When I was in Florida for Star Wars CV, almost a hundred of us went to a Denny's in full costume, we even had droids with us. Was interesting.

Well after almost getting attacked at a ren fair wearing my Zahir costume, that is probably the only costume I won't wear outside of the game.
I've pumped gas, ate at restaurants and given directions in a variety of costumes and make ups.
It always makes for interesting stories.

I have gone into supermarkets, hardware stores, pharmacies and Dunkin Donuts (among other places) in full garb. After having gone into a deli in downbtown Ithaca the night of our Halloween party dressed as a cheerleader, nothing fazes me.

I'm strongly considering going to the diner as Cedric this weekend.

Folks, just a quick word / sanity check - these are public places that know who we are, and will either improve, or diminish our service - or reject it entirely - based on the actions of a few people they THINK are members of our group.
If you go into a public area in costume, or treat the staff or clientele of a place poorly (wether or not you're in costume) - the repercussions will come back to the rest of the KR community. The Jefferson Diner knows who we are, and have already given not-so-subtle hints that they think we should shower before showing up en masse on Sunday.
Also, don't get food on your costume, you'll wreck it.

I agree with Geoffrey, and was being facetious. I enjoy a hot shower and clean clothes way too much to remain in costume for the second half of Sunday lol.

I usually change before going anywhere. But one time we went to Roy Rogers (so gives you an idea how long ago) and one of the guys was still in full Drow Make-up and order vanilla ice cream from the mostly minority staff. I thought we were going to get Killed
