So as we get closer to the cold months we all want some warmer garb. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find patterns or ideas for good winter grab. I seem to have an issue finding good patterns or ideas for Anhîl. Thanks.

Check out the link below. It's from the resources section on the website. They usually can point you to something you're looking for. If it's out of your price range you could always try ebay.

If you are going to do the work yourself, you can probably borrow a pattern. You need to pur over the photos and find something you want. Do not worry abut the frills - settle on material, thickness, color, size, hood and interior pockets and locations

A good base layer is the best place to start.

My vote is definitely the heavy weight silk Then wool layers

Wool is absolutely the best for both warmth and water resistance - but can be pricey. If you need to get warm on a budget, polar fleece is VERY warm (it is spun plastic) and can be found usually significantly cheaper than good quality wool.

Hope this helps :)

I suggest LLbeam or other polortec/polyprob base layers(www.llbean.com/llb/shop/887?nav=ln-27&pa...-underwear-baselayer). Underarmor's cold gear is also very good. I think wintersilks are crap, They are OK for fall and the beganing part of winter but once it drops below freezing, they're not really effective at all. They are more effective for men then they are for women as a whole also score very low on cold resistance testing done by bv. Which to me makes them unacceptable.
I also suggest buying good warm wool sock. ones designed for being outside in for cold for longer periods of time, think winter hiking/shoe boarding socks. Feet are very important and frost bite is no fun.
Please get a nice solid ig looking hat, you'll need it to stay warm.
As for costuming aim for wool, wool blend, of a fleece(which is polyester blend usually) you can get patterns at joann, simplicity.com or mccalls.com. Online they usually have really good sales. Malls was/is running an all patterns $1.44 each sale.
hope that helps.

Make sure no cotton in the layers and do not wear a down anything \

Wool wool and more wool maybe good polar fleece But Polar fleecwedoes not have any water resistance
