Listening to a show (I forget which) on my local NPR affiliate today when I heard about a kind of MMO-goes-prime-material.
As they laid out the scenario of the game, it's basically online content in the form of newscasts that you use to interact with other players on terra firma.
All I could think; 'Gods be, did they just casualize LARP?'
Has anyone else heard of Ingress? Half of me wants to try it, and the other half of me hates the half that wants to try.

It's a cell phone based game, where you go to locations and play Capture the Flag using an Android based phone (no iPhone... Yet).
It's tied to Google Maps, and their other services, I am pretty sure. A few friends play it, and love it, although it's not heavy on the RP.

That seems a bit clearer.
There was a point at which the interviewer was mistaken for someone IG. When the player discovered it was a legitimate news program, she returned to give the interviewer her OOG name! Seemed relevantly coincidental, but apparently just coincidental. XD
