We've all been dealing with it for a while. It finally just annoyed me enough to ask.
And, yes, that would be a stopgap measure, if I had the brain capacity to remember to uncheck that box...

I've just gotten used to unchecking the box for "Check this box to be notified of replies to this topic."

Unrelated...
When looking at Forum Index, I still see a red jewel marker for a new, unread topic, but when I goto that forum section, I see I have read all threads/topics under that heading. Anyone else getting this?

Paul, it may be either a sub-forum that has an unread topic, your browser may have cached it, or you may need to do a "mark all read" at some point to force it to sync up.
I've been looking into the subscription thing, and have a lead - the Profile Builder we're using (which also allows the IG groups system) hides a user's Forum Settings for some reason. I'm looking for the way to make them show up on your personal profile when you edit it, so that you can uncheck the auto-subscribe option.

This should be fixed now. If you go to "My Actions => Edit My Profile," there are new options to set subscriptions, and also display or hide your online status.
(Edit: Not email, online status.)

You may need to check the option, save your settings and then uncheck it for the setting to save.
