The Gladiatorial Games was created by Raphael (Raphael)
Citizens of Travance,
With great honour and anticipation, I hereby announce that upon this weekend's Baronial Feast shall we begin our preparations for Travance's first Gladiatorial Games!

Warriors of any calibre shall be granted entry, so do not hesitate to sign up for fear of being outmatched. You will be matched against others near in season to you in the first of five tournaments. Attendance to and participation in these fights is considered a right of each Citizen of Travance, and as such both admission and entry shall be at no charge.

Betting is encouraged! One of our officers, the Lictor, shall be charged with recording and taking bets, and ensuring you receive your due winnings. Any unofficial gambling on the fights is illegal, however. Anyone found taking or placing unlicensed bets on our matches shall be immediately arrested, and fined according to the severity of the offense.

As this is a test of martial skill rather than wealth or supernatural potency, there will be no use of any magical, divine, druidic, or otherwise super-mundane capabilities, nor equipment that is magically improved in any way. No items that have been permanently or temporarily enchanted with magical OR mundane abilities are allowed- you are fighting purely on your own merit. Neither armor nor weapons made of any enigmatic or arcane substance shall be allowed; only the most basic materials will be accepted.  Each Gladiator is responsible for equipping themselves this way. Each fight will end either when a competitor falls, or when he submits. Healers will be standing by to immediately tend to those who are wounded in the fights.

There shall be a total of four tournaments. We are currently accepting competitors for the first, but I will detail each here:

The Praefectum Tourney
The first games, for which we will immediately be accepting entrants, is a bracketed, elimination style tournament. There are eight Orders, which are essentially brackets, defined by how seasoned its competitors are- so you will be fighting opponents who are on your level. There will be a winner in each Order who will be crowned one of eight Praefects of the Games, and prizes shall be awarded to each!

The Principalis Tourney
This competition shall be in the style of the Praefectum tournament, but shall be fought between the Praefects of the Orders: the winners of the first games. Not every Praefect need compete, but for those less seasoned fighters, it will be an opportunity to test your mettle against those with greater experience; for the more powerful gladiators, it will be a chance to prove you are deserved of the renown you possess! This tournament is fought in three rounds of elimination; the winner of the final round shall be crowned Primus of the Games, and shall receive a major prize!

The Grand Praelium
This competition shall be a single fight- a grand melee between all gladiators involved. In order to qualify, you must have won at least one fight in the Praefectum tourney. Involvement in this fight is optional for those who qualify. The last Gladiator standing shall be crowned Praelius of the Games, and shall receive a major prize!

The Imperator Duel
The final, and most anticipated battle of The Games, the Imperator Duel is a single one-on-one battle fought between the Champion of the Princialis tournament, and the Champion of the Grand Praelium- the Primus and Praelius of the Games. The winner of this fight shall be crowned the Grand Imperator of the Games and shall receive the grand prize!

The Games shall be primarily sponsored by our esteemed Master Exchequer, the illustrious Ming Na. There are several other sponsors who shall receive recognition during the opening announcements of the first competition. There are also three officers who shall be adjudicating the fights:
The Praetor of the Games: Rione Arkanian
The Consul of the Games: Raphael Arkanian Rasia
The Lictor of the Games: ___________________

If you wish to sign up, please sign your full name below, or speak with one of these officers this weekend.

Good luck, Gladiators!

With respect Chancellor Raphael.

While we have discussed in very short detail my interest with involvement
in this endeavorer, we have not actually discussed what the details of my involvement
will be.  If you would be so kind as to place a line through my name in this advertisement
until we can discuss this matter,  I would appreciate this.  While if I choose to be involved
in the sense that you have already advertised I will need appropriate  licenses before
engaging in such a business.  In addition, I would dislike others seeing my name associated
with a business that I am not yet involved with.

Besides, this moon I believe true gladiatorial combat will occur
in the woods and along the roads.

Kamei,

No sooner had I put up this page than I realized I had been limited in the scope of my description regarding supernatural capabilities disallowed, so I have been working on a replacement since- thank you nonetheless for catching that for me. If anyone notices any oversight, I would be appreciative of having my attention called to it, though I would prefer that contact be in private. In fact, if all of you that have added their own notes here would be so kind as to remove your postings on this section of the board as I shall do with this one tomorrow, I would be most grateful; I would like to leave room here for the signatures of entrants and it seems all of the issues mentioned thus far are unconcerned with this and can surely be resolved in private. I will be replacing this posting tomorrow, so please make any such contact with me now if you desire to make it, otherwise please wait until tomorrow evening where you might divert the attentions of your humble Chancellor of the Arts for word in person.
