I understand my past cannot be changed. That all decisions I have made are final. But it is not regret that curses my mind, but...... I will speak no more of this.

This world is not black, nor is it white. It does not always run red with the blood violence, for there are other ways. If we are indeed talking of "monsters" that are sentient, feeling, and empathy capable beings there are other paths you can take. Rather than live in a kill or be killed world, I have chosen to find reason in my assailants actions. Disarm them, or otherwise disable them, and ask... why? Why do you seek to kill me, when I mean you no harm?
A few moons ago, armed by this very outlook, I managed to uncover an Illithid trick meant to turn ordinary men against us. Had I chose to do nothing, others would have suffered. Had I killed them for their violence, they would have died in a prison of their own mind.
I think the real question comes when their answer is undebatable. If they seek to attack you for their own good reason, and you still seek peace over death, what should you do? This is the question that we who seek to live a moral existence must ask ourselves. If you stand by and watch them kill, you are just as guilty. If you shield your allies, who slaughter them, you are also just as guilty. It is hard, but you cannot simply live on one side or another. You must choose, or you are guilty of far worse than having blood on your hands.
The idle hand is the devil's playground. Never let inaction be the shield for your morality.

Dominic - you are young and have yet to fully find yourself. Most of us have more than one aspect to their personalities. Some have the warrior aspect, others tht of healer, scholar, servant of a god, and many more. With these various aspects come attributes, tools, if you will that allow one to be a better whatever. The combination in which these aspect and attributes are employed define us as a person. Only if one exclusively takes on a particular aspect and constantly wields the same aspect will one be considered to be that and nothing more.

I do not deny all o who I am. I am more than just a killer, more than just a fighter. I do what I do for it is part of who I am. But if my instincts lead me to mindlessly slaughter innocents then I have the choice to deny and change hat aspect of myself. I will become something better, I will not be the cause of anymore tragedy.

If I may be so bold, Mister Strong. Might I inquire into your "mindless slaughter" of innocent people? I feel as though that aspect has gone largely unattended to in this debate. Mr. Strong, have you just confessed to murder on multiple accounts? If this is indeed so, I strongly advise you to turn yourself in to the Guard at the earliest opportunity. While your pledge here perhaps is some due atonement, it is not justice. If the blood you have spilled is truly innocent blood, then I have to agree that your rescinding of aggression is for the best.
