Mass of Valos was created by geezer (geezer)
A Mass of Valos will be held Friday night of the July Baronial Feast in Pendarvin shortly after the opening remarks conclude. All Priests of the Light Pantheon are invited to speak as well as those of unaligned gods, though no tangible benefits will accrue to followers of the latter.

The topic of my sermon is "Why we must come together,"

Light snacks will be provided at the conclusion.

Brothers, sisters and friends,

I will be in grateful attendance. If you require escort to the mass I will make myself available. If you have not met me, I am easy to find by my appearance and equipment. Ask for Lucien Belfast and approach me in friendship at any time.

I would like to speak at the mass if there is time after the more senior Clergy have given their sermon. I am a new figure in Travance, but I am working to make it my home and I can think of no better way to know my neighbors than to gather together in faith and fellowship.

Seek the truth and walk in the light,
Lucien Belfast

Valos would do no such thing. OFten the vessels chosen by the gods, or those who claim to do their work, are imperfect./ Witness the recent cleansing by fire concerning many of the Excommunicati performed by many of the clergy, which certainly did not find favor among the gods or His Holiness.

I urge you, Yoshimatsu, not to make the error of logic in assuming the actions of a few reflect the values of the many.

If I might echo the words of the good Father Haroldsson.

I will speak with you in fellowship of your worries of my brethren, for many of us live in sin and fear and doubt. I have said many times that we who keep faith do not ground our faith in one another, we do not base our faith on the minds or the hands of mortals. My faith and conviction comes from on high and is like a well within me, giving me strength and courage.

All of us have lost our way from time to time and allowed anger to rule us instead of justice.

I would beg your forgiveness if my brethren have done any undeserved harm to you or your kin. Valos gives us the courage to fight our enemies, but that courage comes more easily than the courage to ask for forgiveness, especially when we we're truly wrong in our judgement of another.

Be at peace and I will talk with you at our mass Yoshimatsu, if you would hear me.

Seek the truth and walk in the light,
Lucien Belfast

As a reminder for all:

By the power granted to every Bishop by the Divine Pontiff of the Church of the Light, I, Bishop Arabeth Chance of the Bishopric of Travance, formally declare Edwin Haroldson forever Excommunicated from the Church of the Light.

Edwin Haroldson, while not being cut off from the more commonly seen miracles of Valos and the Gods of Light, will be barred from pursuing training as either a Templar or Ceremonialist of Light.

Edwin Haroldson is hereby barred from preaching the word of Valos and any of the Gods of Light within the Bishopric of Travance, for he has been deemed ignorant to the true word of Valos and the Gods of Light. To that end, any person witnessing him preaching his version of the Word of Light should not take any immediate action against him, other than to gently remind him that he has been Excommunicated. Anyone witnessing his preaching should inform either myself or Templar Bat Cooper of his actions, so that the Church of Light may assess and deal with the situation.

Any questions regarding this Excommunication, or about the process and implications of the action itself, should be brought to me either by missive to my residence, or a personal, private discussion when I am in Travance Proper next.

By the Light,
Bishop Arabeth Chance
Zealot of the Order of the Holy Spirit
Priestess of Galladell
Divine Ceremonialist

Brother Aldric - I will not debate my actions with you, for although I am among the Excommunicati, I find it preferable than being among the Ignorati. How convenient that she did not inform me of the charges or allow me to be present, and how doubly convenient that she was absent last month.

I am an Inquisitor of the Holy Church of Light. None save the Grand Inquisitor can change that.

I will preach the word of Valos as I have done in the past. If you have issue with that, post your ramblings elsewhere, but do not clutter my notices.

Master Haroldson,

This missive was not directed at thee. It was merely a courtesy to others. It was directed towards anyone who may not be aware of thine status and the transgressions they may be implicated in, in supporting thee.

Furthermore, thine excommunication is not up for debate, it is fact. As to your allegation of continued position within the Church of Light, I will not deign to comment as it is laughable. I will however direct thee back to the Bishop if thou art still confused on thine status.

Edwin

Considering the situation you are currently in, if I were you, I would watch who you call "Ignorati", as this may be taken as grievous insult.

You are not an Inquisitor of the Church of Light, you have been completely removed from the Church as a whole, as part of your Excommunication. In addition, I was present when the Archangel of Justice offered you the choice to remain with the church, or leave it to pursue other activities, AND YOU CHOSE THE LATTER OPTION. This would signify you stepping down from all positions you may have held within the Church of Light. As per that same Excommunication, you are BANNED from holding any mass within the boundaries of Travance, and if the Church of Light finds you continuing to hold mass within our borders, the "mass" will be broken up as peacefully as possible.

The Bishop of Travance, Arabeth Chance, was unable to attend last month's feast due to a combination of the Pontiff requesting her presence by his side, and my recommendation that she stay within the walls of the Sanctus Lumanarium, in Glangsdale, for her own safety.

As to your final comment, this is a public forum, any of these notices have full right to be posted here as long as they are signed, and thus are not "clutter" as you have so ignorantly stated.

Per Sir Barak's words, Edwin Haroldson is not to hold mass within the boundaries of Travance. This includes Pendarvin, as well as the area surrounding the Pendarvin Statehouse within Travance Proper.

This edict has my full backing as Knight Protector of Pendarvin. The Church of Valos and the King of Kormyre, and their agents, stand in agreement on this matter.

Per the Edict,

I must retract my confirmation for attendance to the mass led by Edwin Haroldsson.

Though only Valos may know the truth of a thing done in his service beyond any doubt, I will trust in the Nobility to do service to the realm as it is bid of them. I, as a humble subject, obey.

Brothers and Sisters,

If no more senior Clergy of Valos wish to lead Mass on the first friday evening, I have prepared a sermon and would happily begin the call to service. Keep your thoughts with the faith and each other.

Lucien Belfast

of course that would be a succinct argument despite the fact you hold us who be in the darkness without the same oversight,so if you would want to "purge" the darkness you can start with me although i will put up a fight against the "true path of light" that is valos,no matter how many of travance's enemies i kill or lives i save of the people of travance,im just an "evil" person with no heart that should be put down like a dog....you kormyrians make no sense at times...may galladel preserve your terrible souls

Field Marshal of Ostcliff?

I confess to not knowing thee just from that descriptor, I will however happily learn who thou art. I am wondering what succinct argument thou dost refer to, as these notes discussed a Church of Light matter and not in any way about 'purging' darkness as thee put it.

However on that matter I can assure, the true path of Light is not to destroy or even persecute, but to defend others against those who would destroy or persecute. That we do this by targeting those who are harmful I am sure upsets those that are harmful to others.

If thee count thineself as one who harms others, then thee might hath the reason to be so angry at the Church of Light. If thou art not a threat to others, then thine post mystifies me. Perhaps we should discuss this at first hand and leave scribbles on the boards to others, yes?
