I am having much difficulty in both gaining and keeping money... Might any be able to pass along some words of wisdom? I do not seek charity, but I do indeed seek finance. At the farm back home, my father kept track of the finances, incoming and outgoing alike, so I lack the proper experience.

Mr Chenjing,
If you have the qualifications, I would suggest that you search for jobs within the Barony. The Guard can always use more members and the Barony will pay their employees! If you are aligned with a land, ask the steward or the lord of your land if there is any work you can do. Nothing is free in Travance except for the coins laying on the road. Even treasure hunting takes a large time commitment in order to see a great reward.
If you find that you have trouble keeping your money, store your gold in the bank. Keep a few pieces of silver or gold on you for casual spending, but the less access you have to your funds, the safer it is (since we all can be grabby and greedy for gold). You are less tempted to buy unnecessary items that you can't afford if your money is locked away in a safe! Set a budget limit, too!
Signed and Sung,
Rowan Uidhir

Cookies my friend, it's all in the cookies.
As one who has procured a good bit of wealth even before my absense from Travance I would be glad to help you. Send me a missive if you wish!

Find value in your accomplishments and your creations, not in pieces of gold and silver. Wealth is not measured in coin, but in what you have done and the lives you have touched.

Paying for food is generally a good idea though. A man has to be realistic about these things.

While this is true, I must agree with Grim in this regard:Kanas Whisperwood wrote: Find value in your accomplishments and your creations, not in pieces of gold and silver. Wealth is not measured in coin, but in what you have done and the lives you have touched.
And also raise the necessity of healing salves. Lives saved are lives protected, and the wounded salved are lives saved.Grimkjell Eirson wrote: Paying for food is generally a good idea though. A man has to be realistic about these things.

As paying for food is a good idea, so is selling the same or similar food. I've noticed a fondness for fresh fruits, sweets, and especially dried meats at late hours of night, or early hours of morning.

I am no merchant. I leave the discussion of trade and economics to folks other than myself. I only know that if I provide a good or service, it's not unfair of me to expect some sort of compensation for it. Usually agreed upon in advance. However, that's just me.
We must recall a few things... Travance is a frontier town. That is why many come here. There is a chance for great wealth, great fame, & opportunities abound. There was also a time Travance held Market Faires where there was no Chancellor of Trade. Things beyond all imagination were bought & sold. Bought & sold at prices you can not conceive of.
Look to the past of Travance. Look to how this town & it's people made their wealth. I also ask everyone to recall the good & dark times when the flow of coin & "zeal" to acquire it led to some folks actions.

Ale, while indeed pleasurable both in taste and the temporary effects it provides, is not practical when going off on an adventure. Nay, it even inhibits you, impairing your decision-making skills when they matter most. Therefore you should limit your drinking to celebration, and even then, try a mug instead of a bottle. Water costs you nothing, and the hydration it affords will help your endurance whether your swinging your blade or hoofing it a great distance.

Well if you have the nack for quill and pen and like to write of events that happen at the feasts of each moon, the Chronicle is looking for a reporting figurehead to write about battles, politics, general things going on. It pays 10 gold per article that makes it into the paper and it garners favor with the barony (400 Service Points).
With my poetry alone I have amassed a small amount of riches. It keeps me fed, it keeps me safe, it keeps me informed, it keeps me drunk.
Signed, With Truth,
Jack Dimms.

Mr.Chenjing,
I will tell you two things that are key to financial success;
First you never share all your knowledge and secrets for free,
Second you hire a good accountant.
A Professional Accountant,

Dr. Robert Tzeereth
P.S.: A small piece of legal council, I would NOT recommend or condone looting the dead, as desecration of the dead is punishable up to 10% of ones possessions being duly and lawfully seized by the Barony in compensation for the ghoulish deed.
