I, too, can attest to Chet's hardworking attitude and commitment to getting a job done, as well as his amiable behavior. However, I also feel that the matter of Gust strengthening his faith through his interactions with Caldor may be a better reason to wish to be his assistant rather than Chet's only desires of food and gold. As far as I can tell, they are both worthy applicants, should these words mean anything.

To the extent the family insists on paying for this, who am I to deprive someone of a paycheck. I see no problem with shifts, if they split the gold.
