Slightly Embellished Tales From the Front Line, Vol. III

At the Gates

Will we find a consensus before warring commences
Or crash through the fence and then damn consequences?
We have the stones to hurl rocks as our own buildings burn,
While the throne's ticking clock throws our will to discern.
How then we bend, valiant friend, and wait for our vindication
As we placate while prostrate to the lowest denomination?
So profoundly awestruck as we stand here at the gate,
Yet we've been passing the buck when we should have the plate.
Are we even men of reason if no one sees when we refuse?
Fall in line without a spine, think we'll be fine when this concludes?
Wave the banner in a manner to suggest you're men of honor.
Watch who deserts you like the virtues that you see forth upon her.
Oh, crack the iron bars and witness all that you have wrought;
The irony will thicken with all the prisons that you've bought.
And after the uprisings, the revolts, and the rebellions,
You'll find the only ones who really rose up were the hellions.
Far from the front lines, relax the foolish and the treasonous,
While here lie this grunt's rhymes, that now reside in those reading this.
