So you have a question about the rules. You've come to the right place! This post explains how this forum works, so make sure to do everything here before you make your post.

Before you post a question, be sure you do the following:
  • Thoroughly read the section of the rulebook pertaining to your question - you may find it was already answered in the text. Even better, read the ENTIRE book first, if you haven't done it before. Some things that might seem unclear are probably just referencing core or general rules instead of being redundantly repeated throughout the text.
  • Check the stickies, FAQ, and Errata threads on this board to see if your question is already answered.
  • Skim the topic titles of other posts on this board to see if your question has already been asked, or used the Advanced Search feature to target this board and search for related keywords. If a thread already exists on the topic or a very similar topic, please add to it instead of creating a new thread!
  • Be sure you are posting questions related to only one topic per thread. The topic can be as general as "rogue classes" or as specific as "Paragon skills on the Assassin class," but more specific is preferred.
There is no limit to how many threads you may post, so feel free to break your questions up (at least by class, please!)
  • Note: this is a moderated forum. This means that all posts are subject to moderator approval before they become visible on this board. You will not see your post, including replies to existing threads, until it is approved.

--How to Ask a Good Question--
When asking a question, please try to keep the following in mind.
  • Name the topic in a way that is relevant to the questions you are asking - if you do not do this, it will be edited.
  • Wherever relevant, post any related text from the rulebook with your question, particularly posting skill descriptions or the passages you have questions about. This makes it easier for people reading the question and answer to understand and hopefully have their own questions answered by it.
  • Check the definitions of Keywords and Traits found in Chapter IV, as their definitions may provide the missing context to your question.
  • If you post more than one question in a single post, clearly number each question and separate it from other questions with a paragraph break. This ensures no question will be missed.

Finally, keep in mind that this is a question and answer board, not a discussion board. Posts that are not questions, clarifications, etc. will not be approved. Please keep your posts professional, and do not ask questions in a way that intentionally puts another player down - you must follow all other forum policies when using this board. Posts in violation of forum or community policies will be ignored. If your question is simply on the wrong board, we will move it to the right board.

At this time, the only people authorized to answer questions on this board are the Officer overseeing Rules (myself), the Director (James C. Kimball), and the assistant Director (Steve Oros).

Replied by Nicoletta (fyperia) on topic How to Use this Forum
Please note that if your questions do not follow the guidelines listed above, in order to avoid causing confusion to other players, your post will not be approved. Additionally, if more than one person asks the same question, only one topic will be approved for that question.

If you do not see your post approved or an answer to a similar question within two days of posting, please feel free to post again, but make sure the questions follow everything laid out in this post (especially the rule about no more than one topic per thread!)
