August 2014 Highlights!

11 years 5 months ago #106534 by Chris Nieznanski (Muodoka)
Well this was my first KR event and I cannot wait to come back! I had a blast NPCing all weekend, everyone was very helpful and answered all my questions that I had about anything. Everyone at logistics did a great job and I didn't see any issues worth noting. I had a blast and look forward to my next outing.

Thank you everyone for the experience.

Sword magic is unlimited.

Well to start I got to witness a bar fight between Zatar Kane and Duncan which was a lively experience except for the fact that I was on the receiving end of the losing side of that experience. Most importantly for me however was the fact that a few of my friends from my local gaming group were brought along and they had a blast for their first experience. Which was the exact reaction I was expecting btw. The game is extremely appealing and the fact my friends who experienced larping for their first time were smiling the entire time vindicated me in recommending them coming here. Personally true my character got stronger and I had a blast ,but the thought of knowing that the same reaction that I had was experienced from my friends made the whole trip for me. I'm still saying my favorite line that my friend Forrest said in character, "Fleeing from the guard that's a hanging"

Friday:
Hanging out with everyone.
Cake! Not only cake, but Red Velvet cake!
Late Night Shenanigans.
Fighting an Illithid and running out of intercepts only to watch Ven get dominated right in front of me.
The fight that escalated quickly between Ven and Tyros.
Druid meeting and listening to the debates. (yes it may have been on Saturday, but I never went to bed so it was still Friday for me.)

Saturday:
Switching out to play George and convincing Ilana to read to us at the Scholar's table while we had no sleep at all. Meeting Zinnia and several other "magically gifted" people.
Getting questioned as is required by law and answering most of the questions with "not to my knowledge".
The perfect storm which was my final arch-casting lesson. We first went out into the open field by the off to the left of the inn. Immediately after starting to create a focus the Visagalis meeting started and they thought it would be a good idea to do that next to a wild mage lesson. Soon after telling them it may not be the safest place to be, we all get attacked by Morlans. I was hoping that I was going to get hit once during that time, but they did a good job keeping them away from me, so the surge didn't happen until Ilana used a windwalker to move me.
The continued RP right after the lesson had been completed.
Late night NPC shift and being requested to walk into the woods and get killed.

Sunday:
More enjoyable RP with people.
Juggling and getting some tips.
More Cake!

~ Helping out with check-in. This was a highlight for me because I got to meet and say hi to everyone before we started game. Definitely will ask to do this again in the future.

~ Reading the new healer ledger and seeing a blue light right at lay-on. Finding out who and why later and being unable to judge her for it. Sad, but I understand.
~ Edwin finally got the massage I owed him for like 3 months! And we got a whole lot of politics... I do not like politics, but there was some great RP there by Lucien and Aldric.

~ First Andorran Mass! I was so nervous, I spent a lot of oog time / effort / cash to make that altar space / shrine and to make that mass a nice, unique experience. I really hope people who attended it enjoyed it. Thank you all for coming and participating. Especially clerics who stood guard over it; Aldric, Lucien, Seamus and also the couple who made out next to the altar; Aella and Caldor. Totally appropriate and wonderful. <3

~ The Black Bird. Tasty beverages for exorbitant prices... you rob me? I rob you back! Thank you for the poker fun, I hadn't had an excuse IG that worked before which would allow me to play. Taking your gold away to later use to feed poor people or fund other good deeds didn't bother Angeliana one bit. Danielle's face at logistics when I emptied my dress sleeve pseudo pouch where I was carrying the gold to deposit it was priceless.

~ Oh the drunken Schenanighans... All of it. Hazel, Jorik, you two are sweet, thanks for tolerating my absurdness.

~ Hazel! such a wonderful, kind, lovely new student! I'm sorry I made it hard for you to tail me, I did warn you Angeliana gets pulled into many directions but I thoroughly enjoyed your company and all of the rp.

~ Brother Aldric's refusal to be dodged on the question of Angeliana's mental check-up. Congratulations on ridding her of her final insanity which had been lingering for 8 months.
~ Tobias; I barely have words for how wonderful and patient you were while curing said insanity. Best RP I've had from an IG shrink yet. Hazel; thanks so much for comforting Angeliana as she re-lived some of her trauma.

~ Cake! Tis was not a lie! and was had barbarian style, which was appropriate seeing as how Astrid just told Angeliana she was a healer hero people look up to in the northlands. She was confused and humbled but cake is cake, her baker mother would have killed her if she refused. I thoroughly enjoyed shoving cake into people's mouths with my hands, not to mention the Morlins who attacked Angeliana seeking gems.

Morlin: GEEEEEEEM!
Angeliana: CAAAAAAAAAAKE! :silly:

~ Breakfast rush! I actually had fun taking orders cooking and serving breakfast Saturday morning. Crystal thanks for being awesome with the pancakes.

~ Jed... Swyft... mmhmm ya. Helping arrest Jed and escort him to the jail, sitting with him and reading his bible until Lord Aleister came and handed him his writ. Later him biting my arm and Lucien almost losing his shit.

~ Watching Lucien and Ava. So proud of both of them! The reaction Ava had when Angeliana told her she loved her, later winking at her as she left and not getting a glare. Baby steps! :)

~ The sound meditation! OMG this was amazing. Typhon led it and Caldor suggested Angeliana would enjoy this. This actually helped me OOG as well so thanks Dave and Jason. Not to mention it was the perfect setting for massaging Amalthea and Utgard.

~ All of the massages given and received. As always, I thoroughly enjoy relieving pain if I am truly able to.

~ All of the Phokus attunements! Also, saving two people from losing tags, huzzah for responsible healer who asks the right questions? Thank you Caldor and Gobspit for the huge help.

~ Private chat with my student Albert. So proud of you!

~ Comparing the deities of light to the basic elements for a metaphor on how we are different and yet should work together to utilize our unique strengths during the Light mass. Also, sitting ;)

~ Running to the phokus for main mod when Angeliana heard it was under attack, not stopping and running straight into the entire Morland army alone. Failed Parlay, as usual, interactions with NPCs in sanctuaries are always a highlight. Thanks to the new players who RPed with Angeliana and were convinced to walk away from the fight.

~ Meditating at the Andorran altar for an hour after Balfurious killed thousands at the end of main mod. Kyle took a great shot of this, thanks!

~ A true honor to consecrate Naysowee's Holy Symbol for him and putting it around his neck! Yay Andorran cleric! I feel less lonely now. Funny watching Caldor explain why he shouldn't attempt guarding Angeliana.

~ Muhammad Al'akir's gift. Holy shit, my jaw, the floor... Angeliana ran around Squeeing and showing it to as many people as she could. Also, blowing all sorts of courage type mental defenses for RP reasons cause death herald... ya eek. Oh while I'm on that, hugging him and his expression.

~ Taking on some nasty diseases which were otherwise incurable then Soul Warden style self healing them :P Thanks Zach for making me feel cool for having the heroic healer list.

Main highlight for me, as it always is, seeing some wonderful friends who mean a lot to me. Can't wait to see you all again KR family, until then, take care!

Lets see...

Friday Night: Picking up the ever enthusiastic Becky Willett aka Kit and getting settled in. Saw the stove in the Monastery and thought to myself, Laura is going to cry. Laid back getting ready and chatting with folks. Going into costume and wandering over to the Tavern for lay on, just surveying the crowd. Lots of new people again I noticed.

Lay On:
Grumbling Aldric is grouchy. Going along to Pendarvin to RP with Charlie, send a message, then back to the Monastery for Andorran Mass. Pulling perimeter guard duty with Lucien, and later Seamus. Didnt listen to much of the Mass sorry Alice, but I received a bunch of compliments on my recipe for Mead. (Note to self, write that down.) Then running back to Pendarvin after Edwin blew a gasket, again. Pulling perimeter guard duty on a higher leadership meeting, gave me a fly on the wall look at how things are run, interesting. Compromise.....

Saturday:
NPC shift in the morning. For some reason I wake up way too early at KR. So wandered around in half garb, until it was time. Morlens. Morlens and more Morlens. After the shift was up ran back to the Monastery to get back into game for CoL Mass. Managed to get a decent turn out and got assists from Angeliana and Caldor. Even had Godric speak at Mass which was nice. My Mead managed to last through that Mass too. Glad people enjoyed it.

Feast was amazing as always. Blew alot of purify food and drink points on our table after the wine was poisoned. Turned to a new player after purifying all of the food, "That is why you have Clergy say Grace." Afterwards Cursed Monastery shenanigans and the Morlen attack.

After being all business through the event, the Pub Crawl turned out to be my highlight. Nothing beats pure rp with good friends, and Five Gold worth of ale. The Bartenders actually were concerned I was drinking too much Koolaid and tried to get me to switch to water. You know you are larping hard when the fake bar tries to cut you off. ;) Apologies to those I offended, and congratulations to the new bartender Ms. Herrister. I look forward to continuing our battle of wills, and punishing Aldric's Liver.

I had to run out of the camp early due to work that afternoon, so I missed Sunday stuff and hanging out with people at the Diner, really wish I had a better schedule. But, as always thanks to the staff for a wonderful event and a shout out to the Kitchen folks for a wonderful feast and for feeding us throughout!
