I saw the beginnings of this way back when, instead of dice towers there was an aside tube, where a gm could send written notes to players without the others seeing what was up and the players could respond, used balls like a pool table
Really like the set up except for the super deepness of the table, I have a place for this in my house but not the money to splurge, as I am not a wargamer by neccessity
