This is known as mantle, correct?

I'm trying to make one, but can't seem to find a pattern. I assume it's just a semi-circle with a hood attached, but I don't really know how to make a hood either lol...

Help?

I would check www.patternsoftime.com/ - they have a LOT of stuff that might fit the bill, or provide other ideas.

the easiest way i've found to make hoods (as long as they aren't ridiculously long hanging wizard looking ones) is trace the hood on a hooded sweatshirt but add like 2 inches to the top and 2 inches to the part that would be the back of the head. as far as the rest of it goes, I usually just cut a small circle shape out of cloth and cut a hole in the middle to add the hood onto. But then again these are my haphazard methods but they work for me :-)

This is a relatively good description. I usually make the hood a bit bigger and you can easily make the cape part short for a mantle.
