Don't be fooled the basic laws of travance as I have come to understand them clearly indicate that no true assaistance is offered without a cost and in the end there are two types of merchants, those that state their price up front, and those whom remember their debt for the future in order to potentially compound it.

What this good man refers to as "disrespect for the art of bounty hunting" is simply an example of the first.

My advice, be wary of those that don't state their price up front as it could cost you far more later.

Have you thought about the fact that her hometown was one of the cities that was reported to have had a chaos orb sighting? She likely just went to make sure that her friends and family back home are alright. She seemed to have been more than a little upset about that, along with a few other things.
This is what I gathered by talking to her before her alleged "disappearance"
I do not believe there is any need to blow a simple visit home out of proportion.
