The Lord of Tears is an ancient Evil; a Harbinger of the Fear aspect. Once afflicted the victim (there are four of us) is accosted nightly by extremely vivid nightmares that prey on the deepest fears. 8 months of this we have suffered, getting maybe 3 hours of sleep a night. You have no idea what that does to a person. Madness so thorough that you no longer can tell who or what is real or imagined.
I don't know that I'll ever be the same, but I thank Karkat and Cyfi for their invitation to stay in Stonefall. It provides the only relief.

To date, I am fairly sure I am the only recorded individual this had happened to. Something about the island of Mercy and the power of the beds themselves helped me rewrite my own brain to what it would have been had I not been running from the great monsters of the world (particularly my mother).
Beyond that it was mostly passed on training from the psionicists of Loez.
The point is the sleep will literally change your life, if you want it to.

Father Donald MacFhionnlaigh,
What is "mooned?" Did you shine moonlight on him? Does that hurt him?
Swyft,
That sounds terrible! Is there anything I can do to help you? I want to make it better if I can.
Ryld,
I miss you. We should talk soon.

As a previous resident of Mercy, I am very interested to learn more about Stonefall. I will be staying in the settlement until further notice to research the psionic entity in the middle of the town. I would very much like to try some of the famous lemonade before resting my head at the Inn to get the "best sleep of my life".

I remain suspicious of this 'Stonefall.' Last I heard it was a prison or a mental asylum and many escapees were being hunted.
Convince me that it is no longer so.
You say it is a lovely place,
With lovely faces,
And you can check out any time,
But can you ever leave?
