Four bells after the official summit, the informal gathering will be held at or near the Dragon's Claw Inn. This time is intended for teaching, learning and honing one's skills. Any may feel free to attend and take part.
Refreshments will be provided on both occasions. If you wish to provide any further refreshments, it is my firm belief that while a humble snack may spoil the appetite, a grumbling stomach spoils the spell.

Does anyone of the guild object to changing the time of our formal meeting this moon to one bell?

Are the meetings open to those interested in finding out about joining your guild? I had attempted to speak to your former guildmistress on several occasions but never received any information on how to join. Who would be the best to speak to?

The meeting at four bells in the afternoon is indeed open to the public. Our new Guildmistress arranged it such that the Guild would have a visible presence at the Feast and that anyone curious enough could meet with those already members in an informal atmosphere.
The meeting earlier in the day--whether at noon or whichever is eventually decided upon if need be decided at all--is for members of the guild.
As for how to join, I bid you and anyone else who would like more information, to write Guildmistress Morwenne herself. Away from the Proper that she may be, she has informed us that she maintains the ability to respond to letters.

Our membership has [strike]always[/strike] at least for the last year been such that it hardly requires the formality of speaking directly to the Guildmaster just to be involved. We have been rather opaque with communication, and have been making an effort at all levels of the organization to change that for several moons now.
I understand a number of those on the Winged Victory and now Night Harrier have been estranged from us similarly, and for that you have my personal apologies. I cannot speak on behalf of anyone else in the Guild, as just a Journeyman. I have tried to make myself available and loud to every Mage I come across to make sure they are aware of the meetings. Some, like yourself, I made the poor assumption that you were already aware of the Guild's happenings due to the simple fact that often you seem to know matters pertaining to the Weave better than I, and I respect you as a clear superior. Others, like Commodore Cade Tanwyn, the Albatross, simply never became known to me as Mages. Not all Mages are outgoing, in fact, many of us become increasingly reclusive as our studies draw us indoors for longer and longer periods. It is for this reason that I find our frequent assembly integral to our health as an organization, as mages, and--most importantly--as the people we still are.
To anyone else out there with the faintest interest in Magic that is not yet known to me. We are here to guide you. We invite you with open arms. I will personally teach you if I have any parcel of knowledge you may seek. The same invitation is extended from most Mages I have encountered.
Send me a missive. Pull me aside. Ask around for me. I'm hard to miss--a male sylph with dark hair and a beard in these parts leaves you with two individuals, and both of us are in the Guild. Any member can introduce you to others, or even induct you, as there is no formal ceremony. Feel free to approach any one of us, including the Guildmaster, Morwenne Archangel-Worthington, herself.
I will be in the Inn shortly before these meetings, and will do a single lap around Proper before them, calling for the assembly of the Mages. I hope to see you.

I figure I cannot continue to avoid the matters of the guild; there is too much information that does not get disseminated to the general public of travance in the matters of the weave, and as a Sorcerer reaching the pinnacle of her studies I cannot avoid joining.
My own studies I am less concerned of- I have nearly a full mastery of all five of my spheres and no shortage of people to learn from (or, as I have with much of my magic, teach myself), but I am more than happy to teach those who may need it.

With regard to Morwenne, short of the weave, prose is assuredly one of her strong suits and any raven would be proud to carry a letter from such as her. Now, I realize that my bias remains firmly on the side of second chances, but I do believe in all sincerity that you should have another go of it.

She does send excellent letters, to be fair. Your bias is in good standing, Nalick.
Squire Tartaros,
I figured as much regarding your spheres, as I said, I consider you a superior in our Craft. This was an open letter to you and to others who may be in your place, as hitherto Unguilded Mages. But should a gap in your knowledge exist that I can fill, the offer remains the same.
--Mantel
P.S. The purpose of the latter of the two meetings is to be open. With this, we hope that information regarding the Weave will be better disseminated throughout the populace. One need only attend, or ask for a briefing. I personally take notes at all meetings I attend and can bring you up to speed on any topics currently under survey.

Perhaps Tari was very busy dealing with very important issues when you messaged her. Or, perhaps she was intending to meet with you in person, and that didn't happen because of Travance' s chaotic nature.
Regardless, a letter to one person with a short reply shouldnt tarnish the idea of sending someone else a letter, just my thoughts.
The guild would welcome you, as many others have declared, but perhaps the notion that people should know you are a mage, that the guild should have tried harder to recruit you, or that you are simply interested in the organization for its information - is a bit, may I say, short sighted.
Many people in the guild share knowledge and ideas, and this helps us all be creative and come up with new ways of thinking, and new ways of using magic. We work on rituals together, and genuinely (for the most part) enjoy being an amicable group of peers willing to assist eachother with our endeavours.
I, for one, hope that you join and that others can learn from you, and you can learn from others. But, it would be appreciated if you were polite and amicable to its members.
I apologize if past interactions have colored your view on the guild, I hope that you meet more of us and that you see something worth being a part of.
If not, I will endeavour to keep you updated on anything relevant so that you at least have the information you seek.

I didn't expect anyone to try to recruit me. I never said I did. I had reached out to Tari, and she'd responded and that was it. I had no issues with letters, I simply prefer face to face interaction, and would prefer to talk to Morwenne in person, as I studied from her for a good period of time. In addition, I've taken part in several guild rituals and jobs, and am quite aware of what being in a guild entails.
I'm not sure where everyone seems to think I made any insults of anyone in your guild. I mentioned difficulty in tracking down Tari to talk, and that I had some less than favorable interactions and lessons with some of your masters in the past. If that's enough of an issue to call in the calvelry to attack me, and then get upset when I come to my own defense, maybe its best that I once again remove myself from interest in the guild.

I came here to remind people that this invitation is extended to Magic Scholars, Bards, Wild Mages, and finally even those who are even as faintly interested in Magic to consider it a pipe dream to try learning. And that remains my purpose.

I have an idea. Mage Battles, arcane dueling. Cross wands and staffs. We have an Arena. I got 30 gold Rook takes Wren. Then Tari takes Rook 100 gold! Let's make it happen, where are you at promoters?
Burk, tell me YOU want to see mages beat each other silly with spells?
See? I'm bringing everyone together, I can't wait to learn more magic!

Cabin of the Month
The Butcher's Shop
We’re trying something new in the month of January in terms of the Cabin of the Month award. Many people work hard to present their wares at Market Faire, but few would go to the same lengths as Matt Fiore did in creating his Butcher Shop in the Inn. Decorated with fake animal carcasses, meats, and cloth, Matt kept his booth up all event. The atmosphere he created was so intense, it was easy to forget his sandwiches were made from basic cold cuts and packaged breads. Thank you so much for your work Matt, we all enjoy your sandwiches and your decorating skills!
