Awards for December, 2007

  • The December award goes to Alex B. as Brother Malcom Germaine. Malcom Germaine is one of the most fully reactive and deep characters we have in the game. Alex brings the level of even veteran role players up when he is at his best. He plays a character as he sees it should be played, with flaws and righteousness in equal parts. Whenever a PC invokes real emotion, good or bad, by the people who play other characters, they are doing exactly what should be done in a LARP. His outstanding RP in his devotion to Valos and his determination to battle his enemies, no matter his personal feelings, are an asset to KR. Alex is always stellar at bringing everyone into game with him.

  • Only a select number may have seen his performance, but the December award for NPC goes to Rob Gambino as the Arcanum torturer. In his stellar performance, he made it very clear he was going to give his victims a whole new level of living nightmare, and then after he had his enjoyment at their expense, he might get around to asking them an actual question. It was one of the more frightening scenes at Knight Realms in some time. He was on the ball, incredibly friendly and still incredibly creepy. Just talking with him made you think that you were going to die alone in a tomb with no company except for his own. NPC Honorable Mention goes to Andy B in the unlikely role as the Demon Jester, during main mod. Instead of just being there to be beaten on, he took the role to the next level. He was scary, taunted people, and generally freaked them out.

  • The dual-award for December player of the month goes to Chris and Damien. Not only because they did a crazy amount of service for the game, but because they demonstrated all the best qualities in a new player. They're enthusiastic and active - mixing themselves into things immediately. Helpful without being asked, totally dedicated to doing things by the book when it comes to rules, and they take all the enthusiasm they have for the PCs and give it to whatever NPCs they get assigned to play. Honorable Mention: Alex T. and Keath G. - the youngest players to write and run a full event. They had been working on this plotline since May and even after receiving countless feedback for changes from plot and rules, they took it like champs. Their hard work and dedication turned out a smooth, fun event.

  • Once again the outstanding setup of Room #3 proved what can be done at Sac. The amount of props carried to the event and used to set up that awesome scene were not the only reasons this room looked so great. Even things as simple as rolling up sleeping bags to look like lounging pillows and keeping all OOG belongings packed neatly away can do wonders. Everyone who stayed in that room took extra care to keep it looking great. This needs to be pointed out so everyone knows they don't have to stay in some funk-filled disaster zone at Sac. Thanks for the great atmosphere! Cabin Honorable Mention goes to the tent down the hill from the tower cabin. To set up a tent in the cold is hardcore enough, but they also took the time to decorate it, and do it well. Very impressive work guys!

    • Tim P

Tim was willing to NPC for Steve late into the night moving the plot forward, long beyond his own point of exhaustion. Every time he was even remotely needed, there he was providing support. Thanks for the hard work! Honorable mentions to Harlee Mowery who spent her NPC shift as a non-combat player keeping logistics highly organized, NPCs made up in various ways and did it all with a bright smile and good sense of humor; and Doug P. - The mod he ran this weekend was amazing, and everyone who went on it saw something a little different, heard something a little different, and he stood back and watched players be players and let them draw their own conclusions. Great job.
